BB00559: Letter to the third pillar (tawhid)
In the name of God, the Peerless, the Ever-Faithful
Say: God is my Lord; unto Him do all offer praise.
Say: God is my Lord; unto Him do all bow down in adoration.
Say: God is my Lord; Him do all affirm as One.
Say: God is my Lord; Him do all magnify.
Say: God is my Lord; He is sufficient for me. In Him have I put my trust, and in God let His trusting servants put their trust.
Say: God alone is …—there is none other God; the Lord of all worlds.
Say: Verily He is the Creator of all things; by His command “Be,” and it is. He it is Who fashioneth you by His behest “Be,” and it is.
We verily put our trust in God, our Lord—the Compassionate, the Sovereign, the Manifest, the Conqueror, the Powerful, the Self-Subsisting, the Protector, the All-Knowing, the Illumining, the Originator, the Compeller, the All-Subduing, the Helper, the Subduer, the Concealer, the Prevailing, the All-Forgiving, the Most Splendid.
He it is Who hath created the heavens and the earth and whatsoever lieth between them by His command “Be,” and it is. He it is Who innovateth whatsoever He willeth by His behest. Unto Him do we all render thanks.
And unto God belongeth the Cause, from the beginning that hath no beginning unto the end that hath no end; and unto God—our Lord, the Compassionate—do we all worship.
Glorified be He before Whom bow down all who are in the heavens and on the earth and whatsoever lieth between them; unto Him do we all submit. Unto God belong all the Most Excellent Names, from before and from after; unto Him do we all submit.
So inscribe the word of Divine Unity [kalimatu’l-tawhid = la ilaha illa Allah, there is no god but God] upon a green emerald, and cause it to be conveyed unto him who reciteth the Book of God on the Day of Truth, the Day of Judgment.
Glory be unto Thee, O God! Create, then, out of these conditions jewels pure and detached. Thou art, verily, … over all things powerful.
