BB00276: Letter to Mulla Nawruz ’Ali

To Mulla Naw-ruz-ʿAli:

In the Name of the Most Great, the Most Great. Glorified be He Whom all that are in the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is between them do praise, say: All bow down before Him in adoration. Praise be to God, Whom all that are in the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is between them do glorify, say: All stand humbly before Him. To God belongeth all that is in the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is between them, say: All abide by His command. To God belongeth the dominion of the heavens and of the earth and of whatsoever is between them. He createth what He willeth through His command, verily He is the Strong, the Powerful.

Say: God is the Creator of all things. All that are in the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is between them glorify Him, say: All are His servants and all bow down before Him. Say: O God! Thou art the Light of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is between them. Thou givest light unto whom Thou willest, and withdrawest light from whom Thou willest. Thou exaltest whom Thou willest and abaseth whom Thou willest. Thou strengthenest whom Thou willest and humblest whom Thou willest. Thou aidest whom Thou willest and forsaketh whom Thou willest. Thou enrichest whom Thou willest and makest poor whom Thou willest. Within Thy grasp is the kingdom of all things. Thou createst what Thou willest, how Thou willest, by what Thou willest, for what Thou willest. Verily, Thou hast power over all things.

Say: God is the Most Exalted above all who are exalted. None in the heavens or the earth or whatsoever is between them can withstand the supreme exaltation of His exaltedness. Verily, He is the Most High, the Most Exalted, the Supreme.

O Day of Naw-Ruz! We have created thee aforetime and made thee a festival for all the worlds. We promised to gather thee on the Day of Resurrection and present thee before Us in human form, and verily We are faithful to Our promise. This is a day which God hath magnified from the beginning that hath no beginning, and all magnify it as God hath magnified it. And this is a day which God will continue to magnify until the end that hath no end, and all shall magnify it as God doth magnify it. This is the Day of God, the Dominant, the Self-Subsisting. And verily its night is the Night of God, the Mighty, the Beloved.

O all things! Magnify ye God on that night and its day and in all the joy ye manifest. We have enabled thee aforetime to present thyself before God by night and by day—this is of God’s grace unto thee from before, and this indeed is the great bounty. Shouldst thou glory in this over all who are in the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is between them, thou art indeed among those who are worthy. And all the sorrow that hath been endured in God’s path aforetime—how they were veiled from God their Lord—shall deliver them from the fire of their veiling, for We are indeed bountiful.

Thou hast been presented before God thy Lord once, then again, then yet again, and then after yet again—all this was what God had promised that thou wouldst be presented before Him on that Day, and God will present thee again hereafter, for He is indeed the All-Preserving, the Powerful. We have shown favor unto thee and sent thee with this Book unto those who desire to be guided. Let no sorrow be witnessed; deliver this unto all whom thou findest a way to reach. For this is indeed a Book which, when it descendeth upon a believer, becometh light upon light and grace upon grace, and he will be assured by it and will stand firm in the Cause of his Lord like unto a mighty mountain. And if it descendeth upon one who is not a believer but desireth to be guided, God will guide him thereby; and if he does not wish to be guided, God will punish him for what God has established as proofs of truth in that Book for all the worlds.

We do not wish you to grieve about this on the path, and We shall surely answer concerning what you have borne of God’s proofs from the Holy Land. By God, exalt your Lord before them all. Everyone who calls unto God your Lord is in truth, if he is not veiled from anything by the limits of the Bayan.

Say: O all things, assist the religion of God according to your capacity. Recite what We have revealed of the Prayer of Clay in the sanctuary which you entered aforetime, for We did enter there. Bring the clay in such a manner as to fashion seals in a style without equal, and carry them with you, for We have so commanded. Guard the words of God as your own eyes, and give not a word to anyone unless you command that they preserve it or its like among those who preserve the words of your Lord, for one letter thereof is better in the sight of God than all that is in the last and first life. If you wish to attain the presence of one who attains the House of God from before, then attain it and convey to him the like of what you have borne of the Book of God, for this is indeed the great bounty.

Say: Aid God through the Most Great Name according to your power, and know the value of the days of God, for the sun has never risen upon their like. If you wish to join two souls in marriage, none can prevent you from this as a bounty from God upon you and upon them both. God has nurtured you in them both before the creation of the heavens and earth and what lies between them, for He is the Best of Judges. However, be vigilant lest it become a veil to the manifestation of God’s Cause, for this is most great in the sight of God in a mighty Book.
