BB00404: Du’a’-i-Salavat-i-’Ali, Amiru’l-Mu’minin

Glory be unto Thee, O my God! Thou art the Originator of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever lieth between them. Thou hast ever been supreme over all things, manifest above all things, standing over all things, powerful over all things, and all-compelling over all things.

I beseech Thee by that wherewith Thou hast glorified Thyself, and praised Thine Essence, and promised through Thine Own Being, and magnified through Thine Identity, and exalted through the sovereignty of Thine Own Self-Sufficiency, that Thou wilt send Thy blessings upon Thy Friend, whom Thou hast made a proof unto Thy creation and a conclusive Word after Thy Beloved One, whom Thou didst raise up to manifest Thy religion and exalt Thy Word, and in whom Thou hast deposited the knowledge of what was and what will be until the end of Thy creation, and whose obedience Thou hast made incumbent upon all things, and whose love Thou hast ordained for all things.

Send down Thy blessings, O my God, upon him through every name by which Thou art remembered, and every attribute by which Thou art described, and through all glory, majesty, beauty, grandeur, light, mercy, sublimity, might, perfection, loftiness, will, purpose, power, decree, permission, destiny, scripture, knowledge, ability, word, love, honor, sovereignty, dominion, exaltation, grace, beneficence, tenderness, bounty, generosity, elevation, sanctity and transcendence. For verily, after Thy Beloved One, he called unto Thy religion, and Thy Beloved One established the covenant of his love in the hearts of Thy creation, and he raised up Thy Words and was wholly devoted unto Thee.

Therefore, as Thou hast made him a prince in the kingdom of names and attributes, and a luminary in the kingdom of earth and heavens, send down upon him, O my God, the most excellent blessings Thou hast ever sent down upon any of the successors of Thy Beloved One and Messenger, for none but Thee hath power over this. And make him wholly pleased with Thee, for he is not content save when there remaineth naught in his knowledge except the acknowledgment that Thou art God, there is no God but Thee, and that Muhammad is Thy Beloved One and Thy Messenger, and that he is Thy Friend and the Successor of Thy Messenger, and the acknowledgment of what Thou hast ordained regarding the authority of the Imams after him and the Pillars of the House after them.

Therefore deal with him, O my God, through Thy mercy and grace, in such wise as shall make him pleased with Thee and with all Thy creation. For his pleasure with Thee hath no description nor similitude, but his pleasure with Thy creation can only be when Thou dost purify the earth and all who dwell therein. Make it so, O my God, and make him a door to the knowledge of Thy Beloved One, for Thou hast guaranteed his triumph and that all successors shall be gathered beneath his shadow. Deal thus, O my God, through Thy mercy, for verily Thou hast power over this and createst what Thou willest through Thy command, and Thou art the Lord of all the worlds.
