In the Name of the Most High, the Most Great
Glorified be He Who hath sent down the verses in truth in a perspicuous Book. He it is Who vindicateth the truth through His verses, though the idolaters be averse. We have indeed favored thee with what thou hast mentioned in the Book, that thou mightest remove thy sandals, for thou art in the sacred valley, and We are indeed witnesses. We have indeed known what hath proceeded from thy hands—verses of the Kitabu’l-’Adl. God willing, He will preserve it from the deeds of the ignorant. He is the Forgiving, the Appreciative.
Say: To him whom God hath made his hands to be outstretched in the Book, let him write unto Him as We have sent down in the Book—clear verses from Our presence for people who understand. Say: Fear God and deprive not thyself of thy portion in this worldly life, for We this day are not able to judge, and God is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
We have indeed known what thou hast discovered regarding the laws of the letters of the Qur’an, and We have expounded therein that which none before this could encompass in knowledge. As to those who ask about the verses of their Book, say: Be patient, for what We do is better for your souls than what ye knew not. Fear God in these days lest sedition arise around Us, and say unto the believers: Peace, peace.
We have indeed fulfilled in the Book what We promised before concerning John, and he is indeed among God’s near-servants, witnessed before Us. Empty thy heart, O thou trusted one, of what We commanded thee before, and look upon what hath been sent down in the Kitabu’l-’Adl. God willing, He will empty thy heart through His wisdom, and unto our Lord shall we return.
And if thou hast decided concerning what We decide for thee in the Book of the non-Arabs, then mention some of what We related on that night before God, and admonish the people, for it is indeed a decree from One possessed of severe might. Trust in God, O concourse, then be in God’s religion like the apostles before, for We are indeed witnesses this day. Unto God do I complain of what Thou knowest in my secret thoughts, and I am indeed the Forgiving, the Wise.
