By God—by God! O God—O God! O my God and my Lord! I call Thee, and all things, to witness that verily Thou art God; there is none other God but Thee. Thine is the kingdom and the dominion; Thine is the might and the realm of power; Thine is the authority and the world of Divinity; Thine is the strength and the ruby-hued world; Thine is the sovereignty and the human world. Thou givest life and Thou causest to die; then Thou causest to die and Thou givest life; and verily Thou art the Living Who dieth not, and the King Who passeth not away, and the Justice that doth not oppress, and the Sovereign that changeth not, and the One from Whose grasp nothing can escape—neither in the heavens nor on the earth nor whatsoever lieth between them. Thou createst what Thou willest by Thy command; verily Thou hast power over all things.
Therefore, O my God—my Creator, my Sustainer, my Life-giver and my Death-giver, my Raiser up, my Reckoner, my Gatherer, my Displayer—before Thee, on the Day of the manifestation of Thy Self and the unveiling of the hidden treasure of Thy unseen, I bear witness, and all Thy creation with me, that if Thou show mercy unto me with all Thy mercy—there is none other God but Thee; and if Thou remove me far from all Thy mercy—there is none other God but Thee; and if Thou send down upon me all Thy good—there is none other God but Thee; and if Thou make me as I was before Thou didst create me—there is none other God but Thee.
And if Thou forgive me—there is none other God but Thee; and if Thou chastise me with all Thy chastisement—there is none other God but Thee; and if Thou bestow upon me all Thy bounty, encompassed by Thy knowledge—there is none other God but Thee; and if Thou deal with me according to all that is due unto Thee, encompassed by Thy knowledge—there is none other God but Thee.
And if Thou grant me all Thy kingdom—there is none other God but Thee; and if Thou withhold from me mine own self—there is none other God but Thee; and if Thou shower upon me all Thy generosity—there is none other God but Thee; and if Thou honor mine eyes with all Thy munificence—there is none other God but Thee; and if Thou honor me not with aught—there is none other God but Thee.
And if Thou raise me up with all Thy exaltation—there is none other God but Thee; and if Thou abase me with all Thy abasement—there is none other God but Thee; and if Thou grant me all Thy gifts—there is none other God but Thee; and if Thou strip from me all Thy endowments—there is none other God but Thee.
And if Thou ennoble me with all Thy glory—there is none other God but Thee; and if Thou humble me with all Thy abasement—there is none other God but Thee; and if Thou aid me with all Thy succor—there is none other God but Thee; and if Thou forsake me with all Thy forsaking—there is none other God but Thee; and if Thou enrich me with all Thy riches—there is none other God but Thee; and if Thou impoverish me by whatsoever poverty Thou hast encompassed in Thy knowledge—there is none other God but Thee.
For there is none other God but Thee—there is none other God but Thee—there is none other God but Thee—there is none other God but Thee. Thou createst what Thou willest, how Thou willest, by what Thou willest, for what Thou willest. Thou art, in whatsoever Thou willest, powerful; over all things sovereign; of all things informed; and over all things worthy of praise.
There is none other God but Thee. I beseech Thee—by “There is none other God but Thee,” by “There is none other God but Thee”—to send down upon me, and then upon the Letters of Thy love, from the “Godhood” of Thy Divinity: a godlike portion; and from the oneness of Thy uniqueness: a unique portion; and from the singleness of Thy unity: a single portion; and from the life of Thy livingness: a living portion; and from the steadfastness of Thy self-subsistence: a steadfast portion; and from the splendor of Thy Baha: a most splendid portion; and from the majesty of Thy Jalal: a most majestic portion; and from the might of Thy Izzat: a most mighty portion; and from the beauty of Thy Jamal: a most beautiful portion; and from the grandeur of Thy Azamat: a most great portion; and from the light of Thy Nur: a most luminous portion; and from the eternity of Thy Qidam: an ancient portion; and from the perfection of Thy Kamal: a perfect portion; and from the nearness of Thy Qurb: a near portion; and from the wisdom of Thy Hikmat: a wise portion; and from the power of Thy Qudrat: a powerful portion; and from the knowledge of Thy ʿIlm: a knowing portion; and from the sovereignty of Thy Sultan: a sovereign portion; and from the dominion of Thy Mulk: a kingly portion.
Verily Thou, O my God, nothing escapeth Thy knowledge, and nothing rendereth Thee powerless. Thou art able to do what Thou willest, how Thou willest, by what Thou willest. Thy gift is not cut off; Thou bestowest upon whomsoever Thou willest of Thy servants, how Thou willest, by what Thou willest. Thou art not questioned of that which Thou doest, but all are questioned.
There is no power and no might except through Thee—at every moment, and before every moment, and after every moment. And praise be unto Thee, O Beloved of all worlds and Desire of the knowing—so long as ink endureth for what hath been revealed in the name of the One Who taketh away.
Guard these, then, with the utmost guarding. And praise be to God, the Preserver of all worlds.
