On Friday, wash thyself and don the most delicate raiment God thy Lord hath bestowed upon thee. Drink three sips from a single cup of water, that thy heart may be drawn nigh, thy spirit refreshed, and thy being exalted. Then enter thy most elevated chamber and stand facing the House. Say “Allah-u-Aqrab” nineteen times, then be seated and say:

Glory be unto Thee, O God! Thou art the Creator of the heavens and the earth, their Fashioner, Ordainer and Former. Nothing escapeth Thy knowledge, whether in the kingdom of command or creation, or in aught else besides these, for Thou art the All-Knowing, the All-Powerful, the Almighty.

O my God! Send Thy blessings upon the Throne of Thy Manifestation in the dominion of Thy command and creation, and upon the Seat of Thy concealment in the kingdom of Thy heaven and earth—He unto Whom Thou didst reveal the Point of the Bayan before all things, and Whom Thou didst cause to taste of the gardens of the virgin trees of Divine Unity before all things, and Whom Thou didst cause to stand before Thee before all things, and Whom Thou didst cause to ascend unto Thee through Thy power above all things, and unto Whom Thou didst give the signs and evidences before all things—with all the glory Thou hast created or wilt create, with all the majesty Thou hast created or wilt create, with all the beauty Thou hast created or wilt create, with all the grandeur Thou hast created or wilt create, and with all the light Thou hast created or wilt create.

Verily Thou art the Light before every light, and Thou art the Light after every light, and Thou art the Light above every light, and Thou art the Light with every light, and Thou art the Light beneath every light. And of all Thy mercy, its most vast; and of all Thy grandeur, its most grand; and of all Thy perfection, its most perfect; and of all Thy might, its mightiest; and of all Thy will, its nearest; and of all Thy knowledge, its most penetrating; and of all Thy power, its most powerful; and of all Thy good-pleasure, its most pleasing; and of all Thy nobility, its most noble; and of all Thy sovereignty, its most enduring; and of all Thy dominion, its most glorious; and of all Thy loftiness, its most exalted; and of all Thy signs, their most complete with Thee; and of all Thy words, their most wondrous before Thee; and of all the good which Thy knowledge encompasseth, that which befitteth the sublimity of Thy holy inaccessibility and the exaltation of Thy glorious elevation. Verily Thou dost encompass all things and art powerful over all things.

Then prostrate thyself upon clay thereof, for the attribution of the clay unto Him is equal whether near or far by leagues, since that is earth whereon the Word of the Babi Faith hath gained ascendancy, and whereon the mystery of Divine Unity hath become manifest, and whereon the presence of Divine Self-Subsistence hath prevailed, and whereon the signs of Divine Singleness have become resplendent, and whereon the evidences of Divine Oneness have become supreme. Verily God, exalted and glorified be He, hath mentioned it as exalted, exalted, until the Day of Him Whom God shall make manifest.

And say in thy prostration: O God! Verily Thou art the Nearest of the near, and Thou art the God of gods, and Thou art the Most Single of the single ones, and Thou art the Most Unique of the unique ones, and Thou art the Most Self-Subsisting of the self-subsisting ones. Send Thy blessings upon the first to believe in Thy Proof, and send down upon him in the highest Paradise and the chambers of Heaven whatsoever good Thy knowledge encompasseth. And if it be not in Thy protection, bless him with whatsoever Thou art able, and curse what hath grieved him and more besides.

Then ask of God thy Lord thy purpose, for verily God will fulfill it through His power with the utmost speed that is ordained with Him, if thou art sincere in thy purpose and truthful in thy words. And watch over thyself lest thou shouldst visit with these inaccessible words and the Day of Resurrection come upon thee while thou knowest Him not, or after thou hast known Him, if thou dost not help Him and thus cause Him grief, for verily I have seen with my own eyes that those who visited Muhammad the Messenger of God, then the Imams of Guidance, then the Gates of the Most Glorious, did not recognize them and committed against them what God is ashamed to mention, even while they visited them day and night with words that were revealed in their own books. And verily you will read that Book, but when its meaning comes to you, take heed from it and grieve not, for He is independent of your joy and your faith.

Wonder not at this, but look at the numerous religions upon the earth, for every nation visits those among them and the martyrs among them in their religion, though their resurrection has passed and their prophets and the martyrs of their prophets have returned, while they remain in the atmosphere of their vain imaginings and pursue paths devoid of truth.

Therefore ponder with true pondering, for you, O Third Letter who believes in Him Whom God shall make manifest, will visit with such visitation yet not recognize it. But God, when He wishes, will cause you to recognize yourself through the word of Him Whom God shall make manifest. When He makes you known, then be certain of your station and thank God, your Lord.

For all who have read these words, their term has reached unto you, and you shall know your worth by aiding the Cause of God with true aid before God. And if mention of the letter Ha in conjunction with mention of that Gate is difficult for you, We shall send down that verse when you read it the number of the Gate, sufficing you from mention of the Unity, then the Throne of Manifestation, then that Gate, then the completing Letters, as a bounty from God to the worlds.

God bears witness that there is no God but Him, and that He Whom God shall make manifest is the Truth from Him, and that the numbers of the Living Letters who believe, these are they who in the Book of God are brought near.
