Prayer of ʿAli ibn Muhammad, peace be upon him
Glorified art Thou, O God! Verily Thou art the Originator of the heavens and earth and whatsoever is between them. Thou ordainest the creation of all things as Thou willest, through whatsoever means Thou willest, and Thou fashionest the creation of all things as Thou desirest, through whatsoever means Thou desirest.
Thy decree penetrateth the atoms of Thy creation, and Thy Will holdeth sway throughout all the kingdoms of Thy earth and heaven. Thy Purpose moveth swiftly through all created things by Thy power of invention, and Thy might extendeth over all beings according to what Thou hast ordained in Thy actions.
Thou art the Creator Who was never created, the Provider Who was never provided for, the One Who causeth death yet never dieth, and the Ever-Living Who shall never perish. Protection is sought from Thee while none can protect against Thee. Thou decreest while none can decree against Thee. Thou judgest while none can judge against Thee. Thou ordainest while none can ordain except by Thy leave.
I beseech Thee, O God, to send Thy blessings upon Thy Friend and the son of Thy friends, Thy Chosen One and the son of Thy chosen ones, Thy Beloved and the son of Thy beloved ones, Thy Elect and the son of Thy friends, with the most excellent blessings Thou hast ever bestowed upon any among Thy creation, and the nearest blessings Thou hast ever sent down upon any among those Thou hast brought into being.
Glory be unto Thee! Glory be unto Thee! All prostrate themselves before Thee through what Thou hast bestowed upon them, and all seek union with Thee through the splendor that is Thine. All besides Thee are but bondsmen in Thy kingdom and are poor before the court of Thy holy might. Therefore, O God, send down that which befitteth the glory of Thy holy might upon Thy Friend and the son of Thy friends.
Verily none can reckon Thy names save Thee, and none can describe Thy attributes save Thee. Thou indeed dost witness the creation of all things and dost encompass all things. Therefore, O God, cause the body of Thy Friend to be well-pleased with the Dayspring of the horizon of Thy oneness—glorified be Thou, there is no God but Thee—and the soul of Thy Proof to be well-pleased with the Dawning-Place of the manifestation of Thy praise, Muhammad Thy Messenger, through what Thou hast ordained for him—glorified be Thou, there is no God but Thee—and his spirit to be well-pleased with the Manifestations of Thy oneness, the Imams of the Faith, his forefathers and himself and those whom Thou hast ordained for authority after him, and his heart to be well-pleased with the gates of Thy favors and the dawning-places of the sun of Thy uniqueness. Verily Thou art powerful over that and dominant over this. None can resist Thy command and none can reverse Thy decree.
Therefore, O God, send down upon Thy Friend that which shall bring solace to his eyes in the worlds of Thy Command and Thy creation. Verily Thou art the Lord of all the worlds.
