BB00168: Prayer and Ziyarat for Friday
In the Name of God, the Most Unapproachable, the Most Holy
Glory be unto Thee, O my God! I bear witness unto Thee on this Friday, which Thou hast honored, magnified, glorified, sanctified, exalted, and ennobled, and which Thou hast clothed with the mantle of gathering after the six degrees in the temple of seven, and wherein Thou hast ordained the sources of creation through the outpourings of power. I bear witness, O my God, and so doth every created thing, that there is none other God but Thee, alone with none beside Thee. Thine is the Kingdom and the dominion, Thine the might and grandeur, Thine the power and divinity, Thine the strength and glory, Thine the sovereignty and the earthly realm. Thou givest life and causest death, then causest death and givest life. Verily, Thou art the Ever-Living Who dieth not, the Sovereign Who passeth not away, the Just Who wrongeth not, the Ruler Who changeth not, the Single One from Whose grasp nothing escapeth, whether in the heavens or on earth or between them. Thou createst what Thou willest by Thy command. Verily, Thou art powerful over all things.
I bear witness concerning Him Whom Thou shalt manifest on the Day of Resurrection through Thy signs, that He is the Sign of Thine own Self, wherein naught is seen but Thee, and the Countenance of Thine Essence, which pointeth to none but Thee. Thou art the First in Him, and there is no first before Thee; Thou art the Last in Him, and there is no last after Thee; Thou art the Manifest in Him, and there is none manifest above Thee; and Thou art the Hidden in Him, and there is none hidden except Thee.
Do Thou then send down upon Him, O my God, from the most glorious of Thy glory, the most majestic of Thy majesty, the most beautiful of Thy beauty, the most mighty of Thy might, the most effulgent of Thy light, the most extensive of Thy mercy, the most perfect of Thy words, the greatest of Thy names, the most powerful of Thy sovereignty, the most effective of Thy will, the most penetrating of Thy knowledge, the most potent of Thy power, the most pleasing of Thy utterance, the most beloved and unapproachable of Thy causes, the most noble of Thy honor, the most enduring of Thy dominion, the most excellent of Thy kingdom, the most exalted of Thy loftiness, the most ancient of Thy bounty, the most wondrous of Thy signs, the most perfect of Thy conditions, the most manifest of Thy revelations, the most evident of Thy proofs, the most excellent of Thy grace, the most generous of Thy generosity, the most gentle of Thy tenderness, the most powerful of Thy words, the most elevated of Thy majesty, the most complete of Thy riches, the most unapproachable of Thy glory, the most joyous of Thy joy, the most exalted of Thy exaltation, the most attractive of Thy detachment, the most upright of Thy independence, and of all that Thou lovest that which hath no equal, no peer, no likeness, no associate, and no similitude. Hallowed be Thy names and exalted be Thy parables!
Take then, O my God, from all things that which befitteth Him on the day of His manifestation, from what reacheth Him after He knoweth His own Self until what is raised up by Thy command. This is what hath been brought forth from the beginning of Thy creation until that Day from all things, and this is what pointeth to Thee and beseemeth Thy remembrance. Cause all Thy creation, O my God, to know on the day of His manifestation that they should manifest that for which they were created and not be veiled from the glory for which they were originated. Verily, Thou art powerful over all things.
And do Thou send down, O my God, upon His father and His mother, and if Thou hast ordained for Him a brother or sister or what Thou hast loved for Him, or those who are related to Him among His loved ones who take shelter under the shadow of His authority, that which befitteth the loftiness of Thy holy glory and the sublimity of Thy mighty exaltation from all Thy bounty, then Thy grace, and from all Thy generosity, then Thy kindness, and from all Thy mercy, then Thy favor, and from all Thy gifts, then Thy might, and from all Thy tenderness, and by all that becometh Thee! O God, cause me to attain unto Him and unto all that is attributed unto Him by virtue of that which is related to what Thou hast loved or wilt love. Verily Thou hast encompassed all things with Thy knowledge. When thou art seated in such a lofty place on that day and desirest to remember God there, recite that prayer, then say:
O God! These are hearts that have glorified Thee, spirits that have sanctified Thee, souls that have proclaimed Thy unity, and bodies that have magnified Thee, and all things that have extolled Thy greatness. Send down upon them, in their beginning and their end, from all Thy bounty that which hath no equal, no likeness, no peer, no companion, and no similitude. For verily, they desired none but Thee in their beginning, and they desire none but Thee in their end. Therefore, O God, cause their eyes to be gladdened in the chambers of their paradise and the inner recesses of their gardens with what they love from the manifestations of Thy power and the conditions of Thy grandeur.
Verily, Thou art the Powerful, the Mighty, the Helper, the Self-Subsisting, the Subduer, the Almighty, the Manifest, the Self-Revealing, the All-Glorious, the Self-Sufficing. Thou createst what Thou willest by Thy command. Verily, Thou art powerful over all things.
Then turn and say: All glory be unto God, exalted be His majesty, and unto the Letters of the Unity, and unto all the Letters of the Names that indicate God through might and glory, and through power and sublimity, upon you, O glorifying hearts, sanctified spirits, unifying souls, and magnifying bodies! Blessed and purified and exalted and elevated are ye by what hath been ordained in the Book through what hath been attributed unto you. In you hath been manifested in the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and what lieth between them that there is no God but Him, the One, the Manifest.
How exalted is your station, your station with God! And what station can equal that which ye have gained through God’s bounty? How exalted is your glory, your glory! And what glory can compare with what ye have attained through God’s generosity? Unto you be the most resplendent glory of God, the most sublime majesty of God, the most beauteous beauty of God, the most supreme greatness of God, the most brilliant light of God, the most extensive mercy of God, the most perfect words of God, the greatest names of God, the most mighty power of God, the most penetrating knowledge of God, the most potent might of God, the most pleasing utterance of God, the most beloved causes of God, the most noble honor of God, the most enduring sovereignty of God, the most glorious dominion of God, the most elevated exaltation of God, and all that ye love for which there is no equal, no likeness, no similitude, no peer, and no comparison.
All this is with you in the chambers of your paradise and before you in the inner recesses of your gardens. Ye witness there naught but what ye love, and ye see there naught but what attracts you. This is from God’s bounty unto you. He is the Protector, the Self-Subsisting.
How many hearts have been consumed for your sake, how many spirits have melted in your path, how many eyes have shed tears in your calamities, how many pens have recorded your circumstances, how many places of command have been raised in your remembrance, and how many conditions of glory have been altered for your sake! Is there any heart that is not rent asunder at the mention of your tribulations? Is there any spirit that is not stilled at the hearing of your afflictions? Is there any soul that is not affected by what hath befallen you? Is there any body that hath not donned the garment of grief in your calamities?
Nay, by your glory! God doth ever remember you, and His angels pray for you, and every day ninety-five thousand angels descend upon you by number, and they go forth, by God your Lord’s leave, all circling around your heights and prostrating themselves before God in your presence. Ye shall see all this with your own eyes in your latter days, with these your eyes, after ye have beheld in these your stations of paradise with the eyes of your hearts that which none comprehendeth save God, your Lord. Therefore upon your first and your last, your outward and your inward, and those who seek shelter in your shade, and those who weep for your sorrows, and those who ascend unto your stations, and those who stand firm in the glory of your love, and those who spend what their hands possess in the path of your Word—upon all these be what behoveth God of bounty and loftiness, then of grace and exaltation. Verily He is possessed of great grace.
Glorified be God before your remembrance and at the time when ye make mention! Glorified be God after your remembrance and at the time when ye make mention of God! That is the Day of Him Whom God shall make manifest, when ye shall be mentioned in the remembrance that is with God. And none hath aught except by God’s command. His is the greatness and grandeur in the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is between them. There is no God but Him, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting.
