Glorified art Thou, O my God! I call Thee and all things to witness, at the time when, in Thy presence, I was but the letter Ba’, and the number of numbers within the decades. Thou didst say—and Thy word is truth—“We have indeed promised the two-thirds”; then Thou didst utter the word of truth, “And We have made the utterance complete in the ten.”[Q7:142]

Glorified and exalted art Thou! Thou art the First, beside Whom there is none; Thou art the first of all things. And Thou art the Last, beyond Whom there is naught; Thou art the last of all things. Thou art the Manifest, without likeness to aught; and Thou art the Manifestor of all things. Thou art the Hidden, with none beside Thee; and Thou art the One Who hideth all things. Glorified and exalted art Thou! Glorified art Thou and praised be Thou above that I should remember Thee, or describe Thee, or extol Thee, or attribute aught unto Thee; for Thou, O my God, hast ever been sanctified above remembrance and similitudes, and hallowed above description and attributes. Thou hast ever been the Originator, the All-Encompassing; there is none beside Thee. And Thou wilt ever remain even as Thou hast been—powerful, restoring, with none other than Thee.

Bless, O my God, the Sacred Precinct, the Sacred Month, the Sacred Day, the Sacred Station, the Sacred Monument, the Sacred Enclosure, and the Sacred Mosque—all these, in Thy sight, are the Sacred House. Glorified and exalted art Thou! How could I disobey, O my God, Thy praise, when Thou Thyself hast ever praised Thine own Self? Thou hast ever been, O my God, the Known One through the heraldings of nearness in the manifestations of the light of intimacy, and through the signs of glory in the hidden recesses of the Mount of Holiness.

Glorified art Thou and praised be Thou! I have not known Thee with the true knowledge that becometh Thee, nor have I described Thee with a description worthy of Thee. Whensoever I describe Thee with words or remember Thee by signs, they are circumscribed by the limits of mine own self, and return unto it, and ascend not unto Thy presence; for my remembrance of Thee is according to my measure, not according to Thy measure. What have I, then, to attain unto my own measure, that I might make it a place for Thy sanctification? For the condition of the needy is need, and the act of the constrained is impotence—all this is utter nothingness before the city of Thy might, and the least letter before the light of Thy countenance; for it is bounded, like my own self, before the throne of Thy mercy, and is naught, like my existence, before the immensity of Thy oneness.

Glorified and exalted art Thou! How shall I enumerate, O my God, the beauty of Thy praise and the greatness of Thy loftiness? Thou didst create, O my God, that Word, and didst make me therein the letter of the ten; and Thou didst perfect the utterance in that Word, even as Thou didst reveal it in Thy Books. I beseech Thee, O my God, by all that Thou hast been and shalt be, to fulfil for me Thy promise, then to aid me against them that have wronged the Bayan, then to perfect for me my light, even as Thou hast said—and Thy word is truth—“And We have made the utterance complete in the ten.”

Glorified art Thou! There is none other God but Thee. Thou art the Lord of all worlds. All that are in the heavens and on the earth prostrate themselves before Thee, and Thou art the Mighty, the Wise. Thou judgest between all things in truth, and Thou art the Best of judges.

Bless, O my God, the Bayan and its people; then make me, together with them, of those who repent. Bless, O my God, Him Whom Thou shalt make manifest on the Day of Resurrection, and make me, O God, among those who shall stand before Him. Verily Thou art God; there is none other God but Thee. Thou art the Strong, the Firm. Naught of whatsoever is in the heavens or on the earth can render Thee powerless, and Thou art the Mighty, the Wise.
