He is the Almighty, the Ever-Abiding, the Most Exalted

From Shiraz my mother—may she be illumined—sendeth word: May my soul be a ransom for thee! From the hour of sunset, honored with the bounty of Presence, until now—which is the afternoon of Thursday, the twenty-eighth of the blessed month of Sha’ban—praise and thanksgiving be to God, all that God ordained for me hath passed in goodly wise.

At all times the sorrow that hath been is but the sorrow and longing for the Presence. And though I am far removed from attaining the honour of that Presence, yet, for divers reasons—inasmuch as my nearness would give rise to afflictions—I am well-pleased, for my own self, with whatsoever He willeth: resignation to the decree of God and submission to His command. Only, as to drawing nigh unto the Presence, let nothing occur that would become a cause of grief.

I render thanks. Be in no wise saddened; for the road is far and false reports are many. Let no perturbation arise, for—praise be to God—there is well-being in every state. In any case, let whatsoever is needful be appointed and obtained; and let the omissions from the effusions of the Presence be made good through remembrance—especially on behalf of the honoured grandmother—may God, exalted be He, protect her. At all times, should there be any instruction, let it be signified, that it may be obeyed.

In Yazd, kindly have regard to Sayyid 228.
