Prayer of Muhammad ibn ʿAli

Glorified art Thou, O my God! Verily Thou art the Originator of the heavens and earth and whatsoever lieth between them, and the Ordainer of all that existeth in the kingdom of creation and command and all that lieth beneath them. From time immemorial Thou hast been one God, single, unique, eternal, self-subsisting, ever-living, ever-abiding. Thou hast taken neither consort nor son, nor hath Thy Essence been joined with any manifestation of Thy creation such that it could be numbered with Thee.

I beseech Thee, O my God, at this moment to send Thy blessings upon Thy Proof, the son of Thy Proof, Muhammad ibn ʿAli, the mine of Thy revelation, the wellspring of Thy glory, the tongue of Thy oneness, the repositories of the command of the kingdom of Thy sanctity, the wonders of the signs of Thy lordship, and among the manifestations of Thy detachment, Thy light whom Thou hast established in Thy own station and chosen for the manifestation of Thy justice and favor, and to whom Thou hast specially given that which is best with Thee of the glances of the lights of Thy countenance and the effulgences of the glory of Thy face.

For verily Thou, O my God, art at every moment engaged in a wondrous work and a new creation. Thou bestowest upon whomsoever Thou willest whatsoever Thou willest as Thou willest. Thy bounty hath no equal, Thy sovereignty no peer, Thy dominion no likeness, Thy exaltation no companion, and Thy signs no similitude. I beseech Thee, O my God, at this moment to send Thy blessings upon Thy Friend in a manner worthy of Thee, for none other than Thee is capable of this, nor doth any besides Thee deserve this. I beseech Thee, O my God, by virtue of Thy very Essence, to bless Thy Friend in a manner befitting the majesty of Thy holy might and the glory of Thine eternal splendor.

For verily Thou, O my God, dost stand over every soul, art manifest above all things, art triumphant over Thy servants, art exalted above the praise of Thy creation, and art sanctified from that which is affirmed in creation to exist. Therefore, O my God, make the body of Thy Friend well-pleased through the manifestation of Thy oneness, and the soul of Thy Proof through Thy Prophet, and his spirit through his chosen forebears, and his self then through the rightly-guided Imams after him, and his heart through the gates of Thy loving-kindness and the dawning-places of the sun of Thy uniqueness. For verily Thou art powerful over this, none other than Thee, and dominant over that, none besides Thee. There is no command except from Thee and no bounty except from Thy presence. Glorified art Thou, there is no God but Thee. Glorified art Thou, verily Thou art the Lord of all the worlds.
