The Prayer of Ja’far ibn Muhammad, peace be upon him

Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou art the Originator of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is between them, Who maketh the angels messengers having wings, two, three and four, Who increaseth in creation what He pleaseth. Nothing can frustrate Thee, neither in the heavens nor on earth. Nothing escapeth Thy knowledge, neither in the kingdom of command nor creation.

I bear witness unto Thee, O my God, with that wherewith Thou hast testified concerning Thyself, that Thou art God, there is no God but Thee. Thou hast ever been, existing before all things, and Thou wilt ever be, existing after all things. None knoweth Thee save Thyself, none can describe Thee save Thyself, and none can worship Thee as befitteth Thy worship save Thyself.

Thou art the Subduer Who cannot be subdued, the Manifest Who cannot be manifested, the Dominator Who cannot be prevented, the Inaccessible from Whose grasp nothing can escape, and the Ever-Standing Whom nothing can rival.

I beseech Thee by the greatest of all Thy names, by the nearest of all Thy symbols, by the most manifest of all Thy revelations, by the most attractive of all Thy effulgences, by the most exalted of all Thy attributes, by the most perfect of all Thy words, by the most wondrous of all Thy signs, by the most elevated of all Thy stations, by the most radiant of all Thy tokens, and by the most resplendent of all Thy evidences, that Thou send Thy blessings upon Ja’far ibn Muhammad, Thy Proof and son of Thy Proof, whom Thou hast made a sign of the sovereignty of Thy oneness, a focal point for the King of Thy eternality, a sacred tree for the exaltation of Thy self-subsistence, a sanctified leaf for the establishment of Thy unity, and an originated sign for the elevation of the wondrous lights of the garments of Thy countenance.

Send down upon him, O Lord, all Thy sweet fragrances, and cause me, O Lord, to receive from all Thy creation Thy remembrance and praise. Grant, O Lord, that his body be well-pleased with Thee with true pleasure and above it, and Thyself with Thy Prophet with true pleasure and above pleasure, and his spirit with the Imams after Thy Beloved and his self, and the Imams after him, and his heart with the pillars of Thy House. For I have besought Thee, O my God, concerning seven whom Thou hast designated for the manifestation of the descent of Thy mercy upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad unto Thee in the world of Thy testimony, for the Command with Thee is one.

Comfort his eyes, O Lord, with that which was not in his knowledge besides what he loveth not, for Thou hast power over this and none other than Thee, and Thou createst all things by Thy command. I call upon none save Thee, and I ask not from other than Thy grace and mercy, being certain that there is no God but Thee, the Lord of the worlds.
