BB00250: Ziyarat for the first to believe, on the night of ’Id al-Fitr
In the name of God, our Merciful Lord
O God, bless the Letters of the Seven and the Letters of Truth from Thy presence, and send down, O Lord, on this Friday night, upon the Tree of Thy Oneness, from the camphor of its root, the essence of its branch, the substance of its boughs, the purity of its leaves, and the adorning of its fruits: the Most Resplendent of all Thy splendors, the Most Beautiful of all Thy beauties, the Most Glorious of all Thy glories, the Most Magnificent of all Thy grandeurs, the Most Expansive of all Thy mercies, the Most Perfect of all Thy words, the Greatest of all Thy names, the Most Mighty of all Thy powers, the Most Penetrating of all Thy knowledge, the Most Potent of all Thy strengths, the Most Pleasing of all Thy utterances, the Most Beloved of all Thy causes, the Most Enduring of all Thy sovereignty, the Most Exalted of all Thy transcendence, the Most Ancient of all Thy bestowals, the Most Wondrous of all Thy signs, the Most Manifest of all Thy revelations, the Most Impregnable of all Thy attributes, the Most Brilliant of all Thy effulgences, the Most Holy of all Thy stations, the Most Established of all Thy decrees, the Swiftest of all Thy mirrors, and of all that Thou hast revealed or wilt reveal, that which Thou hast loved or wilt love.
For were anyone to attempt to enumerate the manifestations of the attributes of Thy celestial dominion or the daysprings of the signs of Thy heavenly might, none save Thee could accomplish this, and none but Thee could comprehend their knowledge. Therefore, O my God, do Thou send down at the dawn of this Friday, upon all hearts that have ascended unto Thee, upon all spirits that have risen through Thee towards Thee, upon all souls that have detached themselves unto Thee, and upon all bodies that have been raised before Thee, from the beginning when Thou didst plant the Tree of the Bayan until the end of what Thou hast ordained for it of glory and grace.
For Thou hast ever been, and wilt ever be, the One Whose command is exalted and Whose might is supreme. Thou exaltest those who believe in Thee and Thy signs, and Thou foreordainest those who believe not in Thee and Thy signs. For all are from Thee, through Thee, of Thee, by Thee, and unto Thee. There is no God but Thee. And while all things bear equal relation unto Thee, yet as they who are detached unto Thee have turned towards […] and Thou hast elevated them through Thy bounty, and as for those besides them, since they have veiled themselves from Thy manifestation on the Day of Resurrection, Thou hast neither loved them nor related them unto Thee. By this do Thy loved ones glory, and by this are they who are not Thy loved ones foreordained.
For Thy relativity is impregnable, exalted, transcendent, sanctified, sovereign, majestic, magnificent, mighty, and glorious in every manifestation from Thy presence. All who have recognized Thy manifestation and prostrated before Thy countenance and Thy concealment glory in their relation to Thee. How much more so on this Day when all who attribute themselves to Islam take pride therein! This is Thy relation to the believers, and whoso is cut off from this relation is as one whom none hath ever mentioned, as if he had never existed upon the earth.
Glorified art Thou! How exalted is the transcendence of Thy relation, and how resplendent is the sublimity of the cord of Thy love! Whoso holdeth fast unto it ascendeth to the highest horizon, and whoso riseth towards Thee is elevated to the most glorious prospect […] like unto that night from the Tree of Glory. Therefore enter thou before the Tree of the Letter Sin and say: Verily, by God’s Manifestation He hath manifested Him, and by God’s Concealment He hath concealed Him, and by God’s Glory He hath glorified Him, and by God’s Beauty He hath beautified Him, and by God’s Light He hath illumined Him.
Upon thee, O thou Gate by Whom the first and the last, the manifest and the hidden have been tried! I do testify by God and all His names and attributes that verily, whosoever turns to thee hath turned unto God, the Mighty, the Glorious, and whosoever is veiled from thy countenance is veiled from the presence of God, the Glorious, the Mighty. Paradise itself doth beseech God, its Lord, to grant it leave that they who praise God their Lord might enter therein—they who believe in thee and in those who are martyrs after thee. And verily the fire shall consume those who believe not in thee and thy signs, more swiftly than any can comprehend, since they believed neither in thee nor in thy station with God thy Lord.
I seek refuge with God, then with His signs, then with thee, lest I be numbered among those who follow not God’s command concerning thee and observe not God’s laws regarding thee. Through thee hath God opened what He hath opened, through thee hath God revealed what He hath revealed, through thee hath God ordained what He hath ordained, and through thee hath God brought to pass what He hath brought to pass. Through thee doth God cause to enter Paradise whom He willeth to enter, and through thee doth God cast into the fire whom He condemneth to the fire. How exalted is thy station with God, how resplendent the loftiness of thy rank in the Book of God, wherein all His verses grieve for thee and all His revealed testimonies weep for thee!
I turn through thee unto God in seeking what I desire from Him, and there is no doubt that whoso seeketh God through thee shall not be turned away or denied, and whoso turneth to God through thee shall not be cut off or excluded. Verily I, through my love for thee, do glory over all who dwell in the kingdoms of heaven and earth and all that lieth between them, and without my love for those who love thee not, I shall ascend unto God. This sufficeth as glory for me and for whoso followeth this path with God—verily He is the Mighty, the Beloved.
And verily the glory from God be upon thy countenance and the countenance of those who are martyrs after thee, and those who have sacrificed themselves in thy path. For they shall abide eternally in Paradise, dwelling forever in what their souls desire. Blessed are they and what God hath prepared for them from His presence—verily He is the Protector, the Self-Subsisting.
