BB00141: Du’a’ ’ala’n-Nafy (prayer of negation)

In the Name of God, the Most Unapproachable, the Most Holy!

O God! I beseech Thee by Thine Ultimacy, which is exalted above all things, to abase every alif that is attributed to the Tree of Negation, by Thy might before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O God! I beseech Thee by Thy Loftiness, which is exalted above all things, to abase every ba that is attributed to the Tree of Negation and whatsoever is related to it, by Thy might before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O God! I beseech Thee by Thy […] which is transcendent above all things, to abase every jim that is attributed to the Tree of Negation and whatsoever is related to it, by Thy might before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O God! I beseech Thee by Thy Everlastingness, which is […] above all things, to abase every dal that is attributed to the Tree of Negation and whatsoever is related to it, by Thy might before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O God! I beseech Thee by Thy Identity, which is sanctified above all things, to abase every ha that is attributed to the Tree of Negation and whatsoever is related to it, by Thy might before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O God! I beseech Thee by Thy Oneness, which is predominant above all things, to abase every vav that is attributed to the Tree of Negation and whatsoever is related to it, by Thy might before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O God! I beseech Thee by Thy Creative Power, which is supreme above all things, to abase every za that is attributed to the Tree of Negation and whatsoever is related to it, by Thy might before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O God! I beseech Thee by Thy Life, which is essential above all things, to abase every ha that is attributed to the Tree of Negation and whatsoever is related to it, by Thy might before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O God! I beseech Thee by Thy Purity, which is purified above all things, to abase every ta that is attributed to the Tree of Negation and whatsoever is related to it, by Thy might before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O God! I beseech Thee by Thy Ruby Essence, which is manifest above all things, to abase every ya that is attributed to the Tree of Negation and whatsoever is related to it, by Thy might before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O God! I beseech Thee by Thy Grandeur, which is glorified above all things, to abase every kaf that is attributed to the Tree of Negation and whatsoever is related to it, by Thy might before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O God! I beseech Thee by Thy Subtlety, which is most subtle above all things, to abase every lam that is attributed to the Tree of Negation and whatsoever is related to it, by Thy might before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O God! I beseech Thee by Thy Sovereignty, which is sovereign above all things, to abase every mim that is attributed to the Tree of Negation and whatsoever is related to it, by Thy might before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O God! I beseech Thee by Thy Luminosity, which is illumined above all things, to abase every nun that is attributed to the Tree of Negation and whatsoever is related to it, by Thy might before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O Lord! I beseech Thee by Thy Glorification which is exalted above all things, to abase every being with the letter Sin that is related to the Tree of Negation and all that pertaineth unto it, by Thy might, before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O Lord! I beseech Thee by Thy Transcendence which is elevated above all things, to abase every being with the letter ʿAyn that is related to the Tree of Negation and all that pertaineth unto it, by Thy might, before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O Lord! I beseech Thee by Thy Singleness which is glorified above all things, to abase every being with the letter Fa that is related to the Tree of Negation and all that pertaineth unto it, by Thy might, before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O Lord! I beseech Thee by Thy Self-Subsistence which is established above all things, to abase every being with the letter Sad that is related to the Tree of Negation and all that pertaineth unto it, by Thy might, before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O Lord! I beseech Thee by Thy All-Compelling Power which prevaileth over all things, to abase every being with the letter Qaf that is related to the Tree of Negation and all that pertaineth unto it, by Thy might, before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O Lord! I beseech Thee by Thy Lordship which is magnified above all things, to abase every being with the letter Ra that is related to the Tree of Negation and all that pertaineth unto it, by Thy might, before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O Lord! I beseech Thee by Thy Witness which is inaccessible above all things, to abase every being with the letter Shin that is related to the Tree of Negation and all that pertaineth unto it, by Thy might, before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O Lord! I beseech Thee by Thy Ever-Turning Grace which is exalted above all things, to abase every being with the letter Ta that is related to the Tree of Negation and all that pertaineth unto it, by Thy might, before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O Lord! I beseech Thee by Thy Steadfastness which is firm above all things, to abase every being with the letter Tha that is related to the Tree of Negation and all that pertaineth unto it, by Thy might, before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O Lord! I beseech Thee by Thy Creative Power which is glorified above all things, to abase every being with the letter Kha that is related to the Tree of Negation and all that pertaineth unto it, by Thy might, before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O Lord! I beseech Thee by Thy [attribute] which is concealed above all things, to abase every being with the letter Dhal that is related to the Tree of Negation and all that pertaineth unto it, by Thy might, before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O Lord! I beseech Thee by Thy Assurance which shineth above all things, to abase every being with the letter Dad that is related to the Tree of Negation and all that pertaineth unto it, by Thy might, before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O Lord! I beseech Thee by Thy Manifestation which is inaccessible above all things, to abase every being with the letter Za that is related to the Tree of Negation and all that pertaineth unto it, by Thy might, before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O Lord! I beseech Thee by Thy All-Forgiving Nature which is preeminent above all things, to abase every being with the letter Ghayn that is related to the Tree of Negation and all that pertaineth unto it, by Thy might, before Thyself and before all things. Verily, Thou art the Inaccessible, the Mighty.

O my God! I behold in existence naught but two trees—the tree of negation and the tree of affirmation. I witness before Thee and before all things that whosoever hath not believed as Thy Beloved believed is of the tree of negation in Thy sight, having no mention, while whosoever hath believed as did Thy Beloved Muhammad—Thy blessings be upon Him and upon His Manifestations—is of the tree of affirmation. Therefore hast Thou exalted it, glorified it, elevated it and magnified it, until it reached the ultimate bounds of Thy grace, when Thou didst bring forth the Tree of the Bayan.

I testify before Thee and before all things that whosoever believeth not as the One of the Seven Letters believed is, in Thy sight, of the tree of negation—he shall perish by Thy command in such wise that his own self shall not remember his self, his essence shall disavow itself, and his ego shall prevail against his ego. And whosoever believeth as the One of the Seven Letters believed is of Thy tree of affirmation, which Thou hast exalted, glorified, beautified, magnified, given sovereignty to and made manifest above all things. There is no end to Thy bounties toward it, nor to Thy generosity in its faith and attributes, until the Day of Resurrection when Thou shalt manifest what Thou dost manifest. Then whosoever believeth not as the Manifestation of Thy Self believeth on that Day is a letter of negation, even though he be among the highest manifestations of affirmation in the Bayan. And whosoever believeth as He believeth is of Thy tree of affirmation, even though he had been of the tree of negation in the Bayan. Thus dost Thou bring forth from the fire whom Thou willest, and cause to enter Paradise whom Thou willest, and bring forth from Paradise whom Thou willest, and cause to enter the fire howsoever Thou willest.

Have mercy then, O my God, through Thy mercy, upon all who have believed in the Bayan, that Thou mayest not cause them to enter the fire of negation, but rather hold them fast by Thy might to enter the paradise of affirmation, for the former is the source of all evil in Thy sight while the latter is the source of all good before Thee. Preserve me, O my God, from that which Thou lovest not, for it is of the tree of negation in Thy sight. Strengthen me, O my God, in that which Thou lovest, for it is of the tree of affirmation before Thee. Forgive, O my God, every male and female who entereth beneath the shade of the tree of Thy love, and judge, O my God, whosoever entereth not, for that is justice for the former and this is grace for the latter. There is no power nor strength except through Thee, and unto Thee do all return.
