Part 1: “When thou desirest to visit the Point or…”

In the name of God, the Most Inaccessible, the Most Holy

When thou desirest to visit the Point or one of the Letters of the Living, thou must refine thyself to the utmost degree of refinement such that if thou shouldst know there is even one superfluous hair upon thy body, it would be unfitting at that time. And thou must wear thy most pure garments, not the most splendid thereof, such that if thou wearest an old shirt that is pure, good, refined and clean to the extent that thou knowest not even a speck of dust the size of a mosquito’s wing is upon it; for if thou knowest of such, it would be unfitting. When thou findest thyself in that most glorious state and supreme refinement, place upon thy finger a ring of red carnelian, which is the sign upon that path before thy glorious Lord and the means of attaining unto God upon the throne of glorification.

Then pray two rak’ahs in […] and say in the first […] after the takbir that God may teach thee:

“O God, our Lord, the All-Merciful! God beareth witness that there is no God but Him, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting. His is the dominion and the kingdom, then the might and the power, then the strength and the sovereignty, then the force and authority. He giveth life and causeth death, then causeth death and giveth life, and verily He is the Ever-Living Who dieth not, and the King Who passeth not away, and the Just One Who wrongeth not, and the Sovereign Who changeth not, and the Single One from Whose grasp escapeth nothing whether in the heavens or on the earth or between them. He createth what He willeth by His command. Verily He is the All-Knowing, the Mighty, the Great.”

“O God, our Lord, the All-Merciful! Say: He is the One, the Single, the Eternal Being, the Everlasting Existence, the Self-Sufficient, the Divine Being sanctified and relied upon, Who begetteth not nor is begotten, and there is none like unto Him.”

Then in the second rak’ah do as in the first, and at the point of glorification say three times:

“Glory be to God, the Lord of might and majesty! Glory be to God, the Lord of beauty and countenance! Glory be to God, the Lord of power and perfection!”

Then with hands outstretched say:

“Glory be unto Thee, O God! There is no God but Thee, and Thou hast no partner. Thine is the creation and the command, from before and after. Thou givest life and causeth death, then causeth death and givest life, and verily Thou art the Ever-Living Who dieth not. In Thy grasp is the kingdom of all things. Thou createst what Thou willest by Thy command. Verily Thou art powerful over all things. Grant us, O God, every good thing which Thy knowledge encompasseth.”

In thy sitting position say:

“God beareth witness that there is no God but Him, the Mighty, the Best Beloved. And I verily testify before God and all things that the Seven Letters are the Gate of God in the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and what lieth between them, and we all believe in Him. Verily God will send His blessings upon the Letters of Unity according to what He hath ordained from His presence at all times, before time and after time. He is the Protector, the Best Beloved.”

Then if thy place be empty of anyone save those with whom God hath permitted thee to recline, prostrate thyself and say in thy prostration “I seek forgiveness of God, our Lord, the All-Merciful” seven times in the morning and the evening. Then be silent and walk with dignity and composure until thou seekest permission at the gate with this luminous method:

Glory be unto Thee, O God, my God! Thou hast ever been existent before all things, and a being with all things, and established above all things, and existing after all things. Nothing escapeth Thy knowledge whether in the heavens or on the earth or between them, and nothing in the kingdom of command or creation or below them can frustrate Thee. I testify before Thee and all things that Thou hast ever been and wilt ever be One God, Single, Alone, Self-Sufficient, Ever-Living, Self-Subsisting, All-Holy, Just, eternally holy and everlasting, self-subsisting. Thou hast taken neither consort nor son, and Thou hast no partner in what Thou hast created, nor any helper in what Thou hast fashioned. All are within Thy grasp and in the right hand of Thy will. Thou givest permission to whom Thou pleasest, how Thou pleasest, for what Thou pleasest, and Thou deniest whom Thou pleasest, how Thou pleasest, for what Thou pleasest. Thou art not questioned about what Thou doest, but all shall be questioned about what they do.

Therefore it behooveth thee, if thou art possessed of knowledge and art able to read and art capable thereof, not to neglect purification and refinement, for these are among the attributes of man. And remember God with what floweth from thy tongue in a state of tranquility and complete turning to God. When thou reachest the gate before the hand of God, prostrate thyself and say:

“There is no God but God, the Ever-Living, the Ever-Living. There is no God but God, the Just, the Just. There is no God but God, the True, the True. There is no God but God, the Lord, the Lord. There is no God but God, the Single, the Single. God, God is my Lord and I associate none with Him.”

For this sufficeth thee in place of all prayers. And thou shouldst speak these words standing after rising from thy prostration. Then present thyself before God and recite the verse of prayer. Then say:

“Verily the Most Splendid Glory is from God, Who is none other than He, the Possessor of the Most Exalted Similitude. Upon thee, O Most Exalted Tree, in the hereafter and the former times.”

This sufficeth thee as a grace from God and a bounty from His presence in His Book. Verily, He is the Self-Sufficient, the Beloved.

But if thou art knowledgeable of what God hath revealed and art capable of communing with God and desirest to take delight in the melodies of the birds of heaven, then stand if thou art in the presence of God, otherwise sit in whatever position thou art able to maintain stability. For God is nearer to thee than thy very self, and the Manifestations of His Cause are nearer to thee than thy very self.

And say there: O Thou Who art the Most Splendid above all splendor! O Thou Who art the Most Exalted above all exaltation! O Thou Who art the Most Elevated above all elevation! O Thou Who art the Most Joyous above all joy! O Thou Who art the Most Inaccessible above all inaccessibility! O Thou Who art the Most Great above all greatness! O Thou Who art the Most Hearing above all hearing! O Thou Who art the Most Seeing above all sight! O Thou Who art the Most Subtle above all subtlety! O Thou Who art the Most Informed above all information! O Thou Who art the Swiftest above all swiftness! O Thou Who art the Most Mighty above all might!

O Thou Who art the Most Wise above all wisdom! O Thou Who art the Most Majestic above all majesty! O Thou Who art the Most Beautiful above all beauty! O Thou Who art the Most Magnificent above all magnificence! O Thou Who art the Most Self-Sufficient above all independence! O Thou Who art the Most Generous above all generosity! O Thou Who art the Most Knowing above all knowledge! O Thou Who art the Most Forbearing above all forbearance! O Thou Who art the Most Patient above all patience! O Thou Who art the Most Luminous above all light! O Thou Who art the Most Merciful above all mercy! O Thou Who art the Most Compassionate above all who show compassion!

O Thou Who art the Most Holy above all who possess holiness! O Thou Who art the Most Steadfast above all who possess steadfastness! O Thou Who art the Most Just above all who possess justice! O Thou Who art the Most Truthful above all who possess truth! O Thou Who art the Most Splendid above all who possess splendor! O Thou Who art the Most Eminent above all who possess eminence! O Thou Who art the Most Revealing above all who reveal! O Thou Who art the Most Pleasing above all who please! O Thou Who art the Most Powerful above all who possess power! O Thou Who art the Most Loving above all who possess love! O Thou Who art the Most Noble above all who possess nobility!

O Thou Who art the Most Sovereign above all sovereignty! O Thou Who art the Most Ancient above all who possess antiquity! O Thou Who art the Most Wondrous above all who possess wonder! O Thou Who art the Most Attractive above all who attract! O Thou Who art the Most Detached above all who are detached! O Thou Who art the Most Bountiful above all who possess bounty! O Thou Who art the Most Manifest above all manifestation! O Thou Who art the Most Hidden above all concealment! O Thou Who art the Most Forgiving above all who forgive! O Thou Who art the Supreme Helper above all who help! O Thou Who art the Most Decisive above all who decide!

O Thou Who art the Most Victorious above all victory! O Thou Who art the Most Compelling above all who compel! O Thou Who art the Most Mighty above all who are mighty! O Thou Who art the Most Intense above all intensity! O Thou Who art the Nearest above all nearness! O Thou Who art the Most Constraining above all constraint! O Thou Who art the Most Self-Sufficient above all self-sufficiency! O Thou Who art the Best Protector above all who protect! O Thou Who art the Best Helper above all who help! O Thou Who art the Most Thankful above all who give thanks! O Thou Who art the Most Praiseworthy above all who are praised! O Thou Who art the Strongest above all strength!

O Thou Who art the Most Self-Subsisting above all who subsist! O Thou Who art the Most Enduring above all who endure! O Thou Who art the Most Wonderful above all who are wonderful! O Thou Who art the Most Virtuous above all who possess virtue! O Thou Who art the Most Living above all who live! O Thou Who art the Most True above all truth! O Thou Who art the Best Reckoner above all who reckon! O Thou Who art the Best Provider above all who provide! O Thou Who art the Best Creator above all who create! O Thou Who art the Best Observer above all who observe! O Thou Who art the Most Witnessing above all who witness!

O Thou Who art the Most Skilled above all who possess skill! O Thou Who art the Most Pure above all who are pure! O Thou Who art the Most Pardoning above all who pardon! O Thou Who art the Best Originator above all who originate! O Thou Who art the Most Single above all who are single! O Thou Who art the Most Unique above all who are unique! O Thou Who art the Most Sovereign above all who possess sovereignty! O Thou Who art the Most Glorious above all who possess glory, and O Thou Who art the Most Detested above all who possess hatred, and O Thou Who art the Most Formed above all who possess form, and O Thou Who art the Most Guiding above all who possess guidance, and O Thou Who art the Most Sufficient above all who possess sufficiency, and O Thou Who art the Most Expansive above all who possess expanse, and O Thou Who art the Most Inheriting above all who possess inheritance, and O Thou Who art the Most Raising above all who are raised, and O Thou Who art the Most Pure above all who possess purity, and O Thou Who art the Most Healing above all who possess healing, and O Thou Who art the Most Peaceful above all who possess peace, and O Thou Who art the Most Sovereign above all who possess sovereignty, and O Thou Who art the Most Managing above all who possess management, and O Thou Who art the Most Distant above all who possess distance, and O Thou Who art the Most Guaranteeing above all who possess guarantee, and O Thou Who art the Most Noble above all who possess nobility, and O Thou Who art the Most Uniting above all who possess union, and O Thou Who art the Most Magnificent above all who possess magnificence, and O Thou Who art the Most Breathing above all who possess breath, and O Thou Who art the Most Beneficial above all who possess benefit, and O Thou Who art the Most Relieving above all who possess relief, and O Thou Who art the Most Perceiving above all who possess perception, and O Thou Who art the Most Destroying above all who possess destruction, and O Thou Who art the Most Powerful above all who possess power, and O Thou Who art the Most Prevailing above all who prevail, and O Thou Who art the Most Beautiful above all who possess beauty, and O Thou Who art the Most Bountiful above all who possess bounty, and O Thou Who art the Most Radiant above all who possess radiance, and O Thou Who art the Most Impregnable above all who possess creation, and O Thou Who art the Most Gathering above all who possess gathering, and O Thou Who art the Most Capable above all who possess capability, and O Thou Who art the Most Preceding above all who precede, and O Thou Who art the Most Treasuring above all who possess treasure, and O Thou Who art the Most Gentle above all who possess gentleness, and O Thou Who art the Most Answering above all who possess answers, and O Thou Who art the Most Delivering above all who possess deliverance, and O Thou Who art the Most Freeing above all who possess freedom, and O Thou Who art the Most Directing above all who direct, and O Thou Who art the Most Special above all who are special, and O Thou Who art the Most Tranquil above all who possess tranquility, and O Thou Who art the Most Perfect above all who possess perfection, and O Thou Who art the Most Enduring above all who possess endurance, and O Thou Who art the Most Penetrating above all who penetrate, and O Thou Who art the Most Extended above all who possess extension, and O Thou Who art the Most Sorrowful above all who possess sorrow, and O Thou Who art the Most Glorious above all who possess glory, and O Thou Who art the Most Subduing above all who subdue, and O Thou Who art the Most Exalted above all who are exalted, and O Thou Who art the Most Glorified above all who glorify, and O Thou Who art the Most Cool above all who possess coolness, and O Thou Who art the Most Supreme above all who possess supremacy, and O Thou Who art the Most Loving above all who possess love, and O Thou Who art the Most Interceding above all who intercede!

O Thou Who art the Sweetest above all that is sweet, O Thou Who art the Most Rewarding above all who reward, O Thou Who art the Most Outgoing above all who go out, O Thou Who art the Most Entering above all who enter, O Thou Who art the Most […] above all who […], O Thou Who art the Most Active above all who act, O Thou Who art the Most Writing above all who write, O Thou Who art the Most Making above all who make, O Thou Who art the Most Accepting above all who accept, O Thou Who art the Most Creating above all who create, O Thou Who art the Most Sowing above all who sow, O Thou Who art the Most Loving above all who love, O Thou Who art the Most Carrying above all who carry, O Thou Who art the Most Causing above all who cause, O Thou Who art the Most Being above all who are, O Thou Who art the Most Journeying above all who journey, O Thou Who art the Most Satisfying above all who satisfy, O Thou Who art the Most Facilitating above all who facilitate, O Thou Who art the Most Easing above all who ease, O Thou Who art the Most Proceeding above all who proceed, O Thou Who art the Most Restricting above all who restrict, O Thou Who art the Most Returning above all who return, O Thou Who art the Most Beginning above all who begin, O Thou Who art the Most Secure above all who secure, O Thou Who art the Most Evident above all who make evident, O Thou Who art the Most Faithful above all who are faithful, O Thou Who art the Most Guiding above all who guide, O Thou Who art the Most Responding above all who respond, O Thou Who art the Most Spreading above all who spread, O Thou Who art the Most Gathering above all who gather, O Thou Who art the Most Renowned above all who are renowned, O Thou Who art the Most Accepting above all who accept, O Thou Who art the Most Planting above all who plant, O Thou Who art the Most Secret above all who keep secret, O Thou Who art the Most Veiling above all who veil, O Thou Who art the Most Protecting above all who protect, O Thou Who art the Most Planning above all who plan, O Thou Who art the Most Making above all who make, O Thou Who art the Most Blocking above all who block, O Thou Who art the Most Preventing above all who prevent, O Thou Who art the Most Near above all who are near, O Thou Who art the Most Advising above all who advise, O Thou Who art the Most Comforting above all who comfort, O Thou Who art the Most Unique above all who are unique, O Thou Who art the Most Companionable above all who are companionable, O Thou Who art the Most Manifesting above all who manifest, O Thou Who art the Most Ascending above all who ascend, O Thou Who art the Most Compassionate above all who show compassion, O Thou Who art the Most Bestowing above all who bestow, O Thou Who art the Most Helping above all who help, O Thou Who art the Most Firm above all who are firm, O Thou Who art the Most Pure above all who are pure, O Thou Who art the Most Knowing above all who know!

O Thou Who art the most veiled above all who possess veils, O Thou Who art the most descended above all who descend, O Thou Who art the most wrathful above all who possess wrath, O Thou Who art the most vengeful above all who take vengeance, O Thou Who art the most withholding above all who withhold, O Thou Who art the most giving above all who give, O Thou Who art the most sealing above all who seal, O Thou Who art the most perfecting above all who perfect, O Thou Who art the most bountiful above all who are bounteous, O Thou Who art the most coloring above all who color, O Thou Who art the most taking above all who take, O Thou Who art the most equalizing above all who equalize, O Thou Who art the most excellent above all who excel, O Thou Who art the most impelling above all who impel, O Thou Who art the most kindling above all who kindle, O Thou Who art the most perceiving above all who perceive, O Thou Who art the most questioning above all who question, O Thou Who art the most remembering above all who remember, O Thou Who art the most purifying above all who purify, O Thou Who art the most rewarding above all who reward, O Thou Who art the most gladdening above all who gladden, O Thou Who art the most warning above all who warn, O Thou Who art the most purposeful above all who have purpose, O Thou Who art the most sorrowing above all who sorrow!

Part 2: “I beseech Thee by the Divine Point…”

I beseech Thee by the Divine Point and then by the Letters of the Living, that Thou send Thy blessings upon the Tree of Thy love and whatsoever is in it and upon it, and that Thou reckon without the Tree of Thy love and whatsoever is in it and upon it, for verily Thy knowledge is never absent from anything in the heavens or on the earth or whatsoever is between them, and nothing can frustrate Thee in the kingdom of command and creation and whatsoever is beneath them, and verily Thou art the All-Knowing, the All-Powerful, the Exalted.
