BB00044: Kitabu’l-Ba’th

Part 1: “At the head of this Tablet these words…”

At the head of this Tablet these words and phrases are inscribed individually: There is no God but God. Glory be to God. The Fire of God. The creation of humanity. Muhammad is the Messenger of God. Ali and the Imams and the Holy Leaf are God’s proofs. Praise be to God. There is no God but God. The gates of guidance, these are the deputies of God. God is Most Great. Sustenance. Death. Life. Ruby. Emerald. Sapphire.

In the Name of God, the Most Unapproachable, the Most Holy.

God testifieth that there is none other God but Him. His is the creation and the command. He giveth life and causeth death, then causeth death and giveth life, and verily He is the Ever-Living Who dieth not. Within His grasp lieth the kingdom of all things. He createth what He willeth by His command. He, verily, is powerful over all things.

God testifieth that there is none other God but Me, the Mighty, the Best-Beloved. God testifieth that there is none other God but God. Say: All, by night and by day, are His worshippers. Say: Glory be unto Thee! There is none other God but Thee. Thou art, verily, the Lord of the heavens and the Lord of the earth, Lord of all things, Lord of all the worlds.

Say: Verily, at this moment, all proclaim that there is none other God but He in Whom the Babis have believed. Say: God is living, and whatsoever is beside God is less than this—do ye not see? Say: God is justice, and whatsoever is beside God is less than this—do ye not fear? Say: God is truth, and whatsoever is beside God is creation—do ye not recognize His unity? Say: God is Lord, and whatsoever is beside God is from Him—do ye not reflect? Say: God is singular, and whatsoever is beside God is less than one—do ye not remember?

O Ali! We have verily created thee and sustained thee and caused thee to die and brought thee to life and raised thee from the resting place of thy heart. Thou wert aforetime an angel in the Book of God who breatheth the spirit of life after death into Our believing servants. And when We raised thee from the resting place of thy heart after We had taken thee, and returned thee unto Us after We had sent thee down—this is from God’s grace upon thee—that thou shouldst render thanks unto God, thy Lord, with great thanksgiving, and that thou shouldst aid God, thy Lord, at this moment with great aid, and that thou shouldst breathe the spirit of life into Our servants who hope to attain Our presence morning and evening.

Say: Verily God breatheth into His servants the spirit of exposition, whereupon all the dead are quickened from the resting places of their hearts unto life. O thou King! Bear thou witness that there is none other God but Him, the Supreme, the Self-Subsisting. His are the most excellent names, from before and after. All who are in the heavens and on earth and between them glorify Him. There is none other God but Him, the Mighty, the Best-Beloved.

Bear thou witness that My Manifestation is the Manifestation of God on the Day of Resurrection. I have taken all spirits from all things, even from the Angel of Death after We commanded him to take the spirit of every possessor of spirit. Then We took him himself, and We were witnesses that no possessor of spirit remained in the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and what lieth between them. And when We asked “Whose is the Kingdom this Day?”, there was no possessor of spirit to answer God, thy Lord. Then We were the ones who answered God, Who taketh every possessor of spirit and then giveth life as He willeth by His command. Verily, He is the Strong, the Powerful.

When We had taken the spirit of all things, We then tarried for a time beyond reckoning, when neither age nor eternity, neither above nor below, could be spoken of. Then did We create Muhammad and those who bore witness after Him, then the Gates of Guidance, then the angels who glorify and stand in ranks, then the exalted and manifest ones, then the hidden and unified ones, then those who stand and supplicate. And what thou hast witnessed before concerning the mention of a thousand thousand ages is for Our eternal servants, and less than that for those bound by time. Exalted is God, thy Lord, above being described by limit or limitlessness, for both are limits in the Book of God—do ye not perceive? Say: Verily I am not mentioned by any name, and all the names of thy Lord are but names of him who causeth thee to speak from God, wherein naught is seen but God—do ye not perceive? And verily all the angels of God are manifestations of God’s Command, working by day and by night through His leave—do ye not observe?

O Ali! From the beginning of this Cause is the Day of Resurrection, and Paradise from all eternity is for those who are certain of meeting God. No higher paradise existeth in contingent being than that God should openly speak to His servants as He spoke inwardly to Muhammad aforetime—this is of God’s grace unto those who are certain of His signs. How should I make Myself known to thee through aught besides Me when all besides God was created for Me—do ye not perceive?

If thou desirest to be certain of this, recite the Book of God that came before, for all say “This is from God, there is no doubt therein” and all in that day believe in it. Then observe what We have sent down unto thee and say: “What God willeth!” There is no book except from God—who besides God could reveal a single verse, when all are powerless before it? This is a proof unto all who dwell in the kingdoms of the heavens and earth and what lieth between them until the Day when He Whom God shall make manifest shall appear—on that Day shall all be brought before God their Lord. Say: Verily He is in that time I Myself, and I am in that Day He Himself. Though the sun should rise countless times, it is but one sun—do ye not reflect? And though it should set, it is but one sun—do ye not remember?

O Ali! We have appointed the alembic and retort from the beginning of this Cause among Our servants that We might extract the elixiric components from the hearts of those who desire naught but God and are thankful unto Him. Yet We appointed not the alembic and retort save that We sent down death upon all people—and this they recite at all times when they mention that death is truth. After this was perfected the number of the One before the Ten, and lo, the human form appeared in wondrous creation—its outward aspect is a gate, and it is the letter Ha followed by the full Vav in a mighty book, and its inward aspect is Vav followed by the full Ha in an impregnable book.

In the form of man hath been created that subtle essence which is the Most Great Name. Whoso possesseth it shall be manifested before all the worlds. This is the Most Exalted Name—none in all the worlds can fathom its mystery. This is the Most Impregnable Name—none in all the worlds can resist what God hath ordained for him beneath its shadow. Through it are they glorified, through it are they beautified, through it are they magnified, through it are they illumined, through it are they perfected, through it are they exalted, through it do they gain mastery, through it do they gain dominion, through it do they gain sovereignty, through it do they find all that they love, through it do they behold all that they desire in the path of God.

And all that God hath created in the kingdoms of heaven and earth and what lieth between them is contained within this temple—the temple of man. Will ye not then be thankful? This is the temple of the Point, from which all things were brought into being for the manifestation of God unto it, and unto which all shall return. These are the signs of God, the fruits of that Garden. Will ye not then delight therein? This is that proof which, were God to cast it upon the fire, would transform it into light. Will ye not then be thankful? Through it doth God establish what He willeth and erase what He pleaseth, even as was established aforetime in the Book. With God there existeth no proof equal unto this for those who believe in God and His signs.

This is the proof through which were created the Prophet and those who bore witness after Him, then the gates of guidance, then those drawn nigh from among Our God-fearing servants. From the beginning of this Cause it is the Paradise of eternity for those who attain unto the presence of God, and verily it is the fire of God for those who are remote from His signs. Yet should they enter in at the gate in prostration unto God, then will God transform their fire into His light, whereupon God will multiply for them the number of the gate, and then shall all attain unto the presence of God.

Say: The years of the letter Ha [five, =1265] have passed, and ye are now being gathered in the letter Vav [six]. This is what ye and all non-Arabs read, and those possessed of knowledge remember from the first death until the resurrection. We took in the first year those who say “There is no God but He, and we are His servants.” Then after that, those who seek shade beneath what God revealed aforetime: “There is no God but I; therefore fear ye Me.” Then in the third, when it was said unto them “There is no God but God,” they fell down in prostration. Then in the fourth, those who say “Glory be unto Thee, O God! Verily Thou art our Lord. Thou hast created us and sustained us and caused us to die and brought us to life, and we have no God save Thee. Thy mercy embraceth all that is in the heavens and the earth and what lieth between them. Glory be unto Thee! There is no God but Thou; verily Thou art the Lord of all worlds.” Then in the fifth, those who remember what God revealed aforetime: “There is no God but He in Whom the God-fearing believe.”

These are the components of the elixir from those who believed in the Qur’an, and those beneath them are but dross, unworthy of mention save in terms of their extinction. Verily they shall return unto God, then in another creation shall they be resurrected. And all that thou hast witnessed from the beginning of this Cause until this day is the fruit of the creation of that religion and of all that was created aforetime, when the Day of Resurrection is made manifest in the sight of God.

Therefore grieve thou for all mankind, for they prostrate themselves before God by night and by day, yet their prostrations are vain, and they utter in their prayers that which they do not mean. They remain veiled from Him Who created them, sustained them, caused them to die and brought them back to life, and in His presence they believe not. Were they not dead they would arise, even if but a little. Therefore, breathe into their hearts the spirit of knowledge, that perchance they may arise from their slumber.

This indeed is the fruit that the creation of the Qur’an hath yielded in Our sight, and thus must We needs create a new creation. All are in a wondrous creation. Since men have failed to know God, We speak in terms of what they await and in which they firmly believe. They supplicate by night and by day for the day of His manifestation, while each morning they read what they are commanded to read.

O my God! Number me among those who have attained martyrdom in His presence, in ranks like solid walls, as Thou didst mention aforetime. Say: Praise be to God that none heedeth what he readeth, and all move according to their own desires, save those who have detached themselves unto God and who aid His religion.

Part 2: “These are they who, on that Day, truly…”

These are they who, on that Day, truly worship God upon the earth, and these are they who, through God their Lord, have ascendancy over the earth and all who dwell therein. Look not upon those who prostrate themselves by night and by day, claiming they are God-fearing. We hear their words “Thee do we worship” but We answer them not in what they say, for We had revealed that verse unto Muhammad, the Apostle of God, beforetime, and all read according to what was previously ordained.

He hath returned to the primal life, as have all who believed in God and His signs, while all who are dead wander in the desires of their vain imaginings. Say: That whereby religion was established aforetime existeth with you today. It is now established, whether before God my Lord and before those who have believed in God and His signs they be God-fearing or not.

If ye do good, ye prepare it for your own souls; otherwise ye shall die and shall not return. How many servants in former times possessed the East and West of the earth, yet today who among all the peoples remembereth them? Ye too shall die, then perish, then find in the fire what ye cannot remember.

Therefore have mercy upon yourselves and attain unto what escapeth you, and let each one of you, whether male or female, be as though ye possessed God’s Cause from Him, however ye may administer or reform it. This is the state of one who feareth God in His religion and desireth the abode of the Hereafter, which is true life with God, while they regard not this present life.

By the life of Him Whom God shall make manifest! If on that Day one who hath never worshipped God in this world should believe, it would be as though he had worshipped God throughout all the worlds of Command and Creation, and thereby all would ascend to the highest degrees of grace. And should anyone who hath worshipped God from the beginning of this world until now reflect, even to the measure of nine times nineteen mustard seeds, then all he hath gained would descend as though he had never worshipped God in any way.

Similarly shall you be tested concerning Him Whom God shall make manifest. Those who believe in Him are those who have believed in Me, and they are the triumphant ones. And whoso believes not in Him at the time of His manifestation has not in truth believed in God his Lord, and thus shall all people be tested on the day of His manifestation.

On that day all who are in the heavens and on the earth and whatever lies between them shall be struck unconscious by His Cause, save those whom God willeth. These are they who have truly recognized God their Lord and are well-assured of His signs.

There exists naught in the heaven above you nor in the earth beneath you save that which exists in the heaven of your hearts and the earth of your bodies and whatsoever lies between them. Therefore imagine not that which you cannot comprehend.

Say: My Revelation is the Revelation of God. None can dwell in that paradise except His most excellent Names, and these are they who are dominant over the earth and all who dwell thereon. Say: Everyone who believes in Me—is he not named after Me? Will ye not reflect how We began this creation with the Letters of the One, whereupon all who are guided in God’s Book are guided by them? We have multiplied that Unity even as ye behold this day, and We shall continue to multiply that Unity until the Day of Him Whom God shall make manifest, until there remains not a single soul on earth who has not believed in the Bayan. This is God’s command, and He has power over all things.

Say: O people! Ye are, of your own selves, the angels of victory. If ye assist God, ye shall indeed be assisted. Imagine not that which ye cannot understand. And should anyone dispute with Me concerning how one who was born aforetime and more than a thousand years have passed can now appear in the form of one who is thirty years of age, say: Indeed, this is from God’s command. How can ye be certain that Muhammad’s body ascended to heaven and entered every station and departed from every station, while His seat remained empty of His body, and all creation witnessed His presence in His Own sphere while He was in His sphere of exaltation? Similarly do ye speak concerning Me. This is one of God’s mysteries which ye cannot comprehend. We are indeed the First and the Last, and We are indeed the Outward and the Inward. Neither sleep nor geometry takes hold of Us as it does you or those above you. Therefore believe in God Who created all things, then trust in God, the Ever-Living, Who causes you to turn about by night and by day.

Make not difficult for yourselves the religion of your Lord, for God wishes not to grieve the heart of even an ant that crawls in one of the houses of His dominion. This is God’s mercy—will ye not be thankful? Yet despite this mercy, were God to create an angel who would cause all those on earth to receive one message, His dominion would not be diminished. Verily He is the All-Subduing, the Possessor of mighty strength.

All who believed in the Qur’an aforetime say “Thee do we worship and Thine aid do we seek,” yet behold what their hands have wrought. God will seize them for what their hands have earned. Verily God shall seize them for what their hands have wrought. Verily He is possessed of a mighty grasp. By the life of Him Whom God shall make manifest, were no one to grieve Me on the Day of Resurrection, I would cause all things to enter into My mercy through My word Be! and it is.’ For were I to utter this, all would rejoice until the Day of Resurrection. But I shall assuredly lay hold upon the people for not having believed in My presence on the Day of My Manifestation, and I shall surely prevail over them for not having believed in My signs, though night and day they say We are assured of God and His signs.’

Glory be unto Thee, O my God! Create then servants through Thy might who shall prevail over the earth and all that are thereon, that they may purify the whole earth from the letters of negation and cause every soul to enter into the letters of affirmation, even though they know not that this is better for them with their Lord. Verily Thou hast power over all things. And create, O my God, servants from the light of Thy dominion who shall lay hold upon the earth and all that are thereon, that they may banish from it whoso believeth not in Thee and Thy signs, and may fill it from end to end with such as have believed in Thee and then in Thy signs. Verily Thou knowest what is in the heavens and what is on earth and what lieth between them. Nothing can frustrate Thee, whether in the kingdom of command or creation or what lieth beneath them. Thou createst what Thou willest as Thou willest. Verily Thou art the All-Powerful, the Almighty, the Omnipotent.

Say: God at this time loveth that all His servants should be unto one another manifestations of His mercy, that none should grieve another while remaining joyous in their inmost hearts. And it behooveth them, if they are able, to prevail and to triumph; otherwise to be patient and remain silent, for this profiteth them not at this time until God grant them relief and assist them through the angels of the heavens and the earth and all that lieth between them, as He willeth through His command. Verily He is possessed of mighty vision.

Say: The religion at this time, so long as the Point shineth among you, is that ye should unite with God to the extent of your powers. Then what We have ordained of three hundred and several words—for all this is the number of all things—will ye not then be thankful? Whoso in the first year believeth in God and is among the unitarians, it behooveth him to negate by his hands the number of negation and affirm by his strength the number of affirmation. Then in the second year the second, then in the third year the third, then in the fourth year the fourth, then in the fifth year the fifth. This is from God’s command if they be among those who profess the unity of God in His religion.

Say: God will not burden you save according to your capacity. I desire not to cause grief to anyone in the Bayan. Rather, We desire for those who have believed in God and His signs, whether male or female, that they should live in God’s dominion while giving thanks night and day. However, We find at this time nothing sweeter than to cast out negation as We are able and establish affirmation as We are empowered. The fire of negation hath indeed been extinguished in your saying “There is no god but He”—will ye not then give thanks? See how God hath made the letters of negation like unto a day when they shall not be mentioned on earth. And its pillars are five, and shouldst thou comprehend the second among them, it shall surely consume them through the breathing of the spirit therein, for that is more grievous in the sight of God than if they deny it, and likewise are all who are mortal.

We do not wish to mention aught save the letters of the exalted ones, else We would acquaint thee with their abodes in the fire. Make mention, therefore, of the former ones, then draw from them evidence regarding the latter ones. Say: The resting place wherein rivers flow hath returned to earthly life, and on that day it is with those who are witnesses from God. Of no profit unto men is that which they earn concerning them. Strive ye until ye are assured that He and your own selves are as dust before God, and ye shall find naught with God save that ye return unto God and then become certain of His signs.

How many are they who were given the Book aforetime and until now await the appearance of Muhammad, whom they find mentioned in their Books! He came with the truth, His resurrection was fulfilled, and every soul was rewarded according to its deserts—yet they still wait. Similarly are they who in this day show patience in the Cause of God—nay, more severe than these, for they had believed in the Book aforetime and now interpret the verses of the Bayan, yet they remember not.

Present ye the Khums and deliver unto its people that from which they are veiled. The resurrection hath come to pass, and that which ye await hath been fulfilled in His manifestation, though ye be far removed from His signs. Thus hath the breath of life been breathed after death, that perchance the people may arise from their graves. Guard thyself with utmost vigilance, and speak not of God, nor utter aught save from the Bayan and such verses as move thee and all people.

And if thou don the garment of the third letter, God will protect thee thereby, though they who have believed in God and His signs and possess the Temples are preserved by God’s leave. Weep thou now, day and night, for those who await Him, imploring. And when He desired to send His Messenger unto them with tidings, then by what their hands had wrought, they were content to don the garment of the third letter. Such is the state of men before God. God will soon seize them for what their hands have earned. Verily, His grasp is nigh.

But make no mention in the land of Fa save of him who was a believer in God and His signs from among the letters, lest there arise thereby a sedition causing grief to them that grieve in God. Make mention of Our noble remembrance, the merchant there, for he is one who aforetime believed in God and His signs and was among the God-fearing. Receive from him and take from him the Book, for he receiveth from those who know the places of the House and who in this day are God-fearing. Deliver the Tablets unto all who have believed in God and His signs when thou findest them among the assured ones.

Part 3: “This is the mending of what is torn…”

This is the mending of what is torn—thou wilt find their sleep beneath their heads. God will send down unto all His servants detailed Tablets wherein is every good thing measured out. For every term there is a Book, and when its term cometh, all rejoice. And if thou art able to enter the Holy Land, enter therein, give greetings unto its people, and recite unto them the Book of thy Lord. Otherwise, proceed whither thou art commanded and return unto God, for that is the mighty triumph.

I bear witness that there is none other God but Him, Who is independent of all who have believed and all who have failed to acknowledge the words of their Lord. Indeed, those who have acknowledged the words of God—these are they who shall triumph.

This is the law of the Alif in the thousand, therefore gather ye beneath its shade, then multiply. Thereafter shall the permanence be intensified, then shall appear the Alif, then shall dawn the letters of Him whom all shall meet their Lord with certitude. Though all this is with all things, before all things, after all things, to the right of all things, and to the left of all things, yet His manifestation is according to the measure of nineteen units that revolve until it becomes manifest to all the worlds.

We have divided the year into nineteen portions and made each one a unity, thus all this is the number of all things. We have ordained for you in the Bayan the measures of all things in this. Thus is established the Primal Word “There is none other God but Him,” and by it is established all that they profess. That is the day wherein ye shall manifest all that ye are empowered with of might and ordainment, then of knowledge and governance, that this may be revealed and by its revelation all shall be made manifest.

Say: O people! Verily deliverance lies not in wealth nor in exaltation as ye imagine. How many kings have been raised up in the religion of Islam who to this day await it and supplicate for it! Rather, deliverance is what God hath bestowed upon a servant as a proof whereby He establisheth what He willeth, and before which all the worlds are powerless—even as He bestowed upon Muhammad aforetime and established thereby the religion of Islam. And now on this day God hath bestowed upon Me this—that whereby the affairs of the first and the last, the outward and the inward, the mighty and the glorious, the greatest and the most great shall be set aright.

And when thou enterest the blessed spot on the right of the Mount of Faith, remember there the sincere servants of God. Then remember there him who hath presented himself from the land of Qaf, for he is Muhammad-before-Husayn in a beloved and mighty Book, then Muhammad-before-ʿAli in a beloved and mighty Book. Say: They who have detached themselves unto God—these are the inheritors. And recite unto the First Name the verse of the Qur’an “The punishment of those who wage war against God…” that they may rise up in the religion of God. Say: Concerning this was this verse revealed aforetime. Blessed are they who manifest themselves through God their Lord.

Say: Verily the Last is the First, and the Manifest is the Hidden. Is there any creator besides God who createth you, sustaineth you, causeth you to die, giveth you life, or helpeth you? Glory be to God! Rejoice then in the life wherein ye shall be rewarded in paradise.

Remember Our name the All-Giving in a mighty, inscribed Book. Say: Write books from one whose name is not known in the Book to those who will benefit thereby if they come to know of it; otherwise be silent and trust in God, the Ever-Living Who dieth not. And say to him whose name is numbered by the name of thy Lord there: Command the people of guidance to present themselves there, then arise for the religion of God. And say: O Abu-ʿAli! From the day thou presented thyself there, We knew not that what thou desired in the path of God would benefit. Therefore preserve thyself and then those who are guided, and be of them that ponder. And if thou knowest that a word from thee, or mention of a Book wherein is remembered the Manifestation, or the return of Muhammad, or the Day of Resurrection, or aught whereby the hearts of them that behold are transformed—then aid thou God’s Cause on that day in the religion of truth, for this shall profit the God-fearing. At that time, righteous deeds shall not profit except those who aid in God’s path.

We have indeed sent down to thee aforetime numbered Books, and now a white, inscribed Tablet, whose single letter none in the heavens and earth and all between them can equal. Through it are gladdened the hearts of the sincere, though all are before God, in every time, before time and after time. This is what thou hast heard from him who came in the name of Ahmad before. Therefore call ye upon God lest ye be among the first at the time of the Manifestation, for verily ye are of the assured ones.

Say: Praise be to God Who hath favored me with His remembrance and made me to be of the sincere ones. By the life of Him Whom God shall make manifest! Nothing shall profit mankind on that Day save their following God and aiding the Cause of Truth. This shall profit God’s sincere servants.

Take a piece of paper and divide it in half, and send the half to Me. Then purchase another piece and convey all this to one of those who are assured of God and His signs. And let this be conveyed in the Land of Kaf if there be found there one of the gilders, otherwise in the Land of Sad to him who is called Muhammad-before-Husayn, that he may bring one of the gilders to gild each tablet according to the Book, one by one. Then let him who writes inscribe in each house “Allahu Akbar” to fill the number of pages of each thing from the first multiplication. For this is a great victory from God. And if there be none there, then bring Our gracious remembrance to the Land of Fa that someone may gild it, if there appear not thereby what would grieve the God-fearing.

Otherwise approach not there, and command this in every land where it appears, and place it in a binding and bring it if thou art able. Otherwise let it remain with one who watches over His Cause until We give permission regarding it. For this is of God’s grace upon the Letters of the Unity, that their outward manifestation in the earth may give thanks and then arise by God’s command. And if it appear in two volumes, the thinner is preferable with thy Lord, for God is indeed most subtle. But according to what that paper was, let not its state be altered, for in this is a beautiful glory of might. But let the gilders watch over the Unity in Unity with gold water without other, that it change not from beauty of appearance at the Greatest Scene.

For they who are subtle in their craft, these are they who shall attain. But let not the work of gilding appear like those who gild in the Land of Fa, for these are they who are most precise. And perchance what is precise in the Land of Sad equals this, and it is a subtle deed which appeareth in the form of a rustling breeze.

And when thou art in the presence of the All-Bountiful, remember Him with gracious remembrance from thy Lord, and say:

“We have sent down unto thee the Book aforetime; therefore recite the Book of thy Lord morning and evening, and remember those who are there among them who have believed in God and His signs, for these are they who shall triumph.”

And whoso is unable to recognize the oneness of God through that which appeareth in the horizons, let him recognize His oneness through the Haykals, and whoso is unable to do this, let him recognize the oneness of God his Lord through the degrees We have sent down in the Book, and let him not turn aside from excellence of vision when in the presence of the Most Great Scene. Verily God is content with those who, in their joy, seek to unify Him. He who hath the power to observe the first cannot defer to the second, and he who hath the power to observe the second cannot defer to the third. And how can one who doth not observe the third, though professing God’s unity with his tongue after having recognized the Letters of Negation and borne witness to the truth of the Letters of Affirmation, be accounted among the believers?

And when thou reachest the Land of Nun, remember His sincere servants. Then return by way of the sea and remember on thy path the sleeping servants of God.

And verily in Basra there is one known by the name of Muhammad, then the letters Ta, Qaf and Ya—if thou findest him among those who remember. Deliver unto him what thou hast borne of the Book of God, that he may be among those who arise.

And if before reaching there thou meetest Muhammad-Ali, tell him that the Day of Resurrection hath passed—how is it that they arise not? Likewise, whosoever is mentioned by the servant who writeth this Book—verily he hath been informed by Muhammad-Ali that he will recognize the Qa’im through Whom all shall attain recognition.

Then in the land of Ba unto what descendeth to Fa, where thou seest what will preserve thy soul, breathe the spirit of life into God’s sincere servants.

If thou journeyest to the other youths who are known to thee (dervishes), thou canst breathe into every soul the spirit of life without anyone taking notice, and convey thy Lord’s Cause to every soul until there remaineth not a single person, whether male or female, who would say before God:

“Had God taught me of the Manifestation of the Mahdi or the return of Muhammad, I would surely have been among those who are certain, and had God acquainted me with Himself on the Day of Resurrection, I would surely have been among those who attain His presence with certitude.”

This is what God hath willed regarding thy journeying to the right and to the left. Follow, then, the paths of life if thou findest not the spirit of sorrow in thy heart; otherwise, rest thy heart with what We are content. We desire to witness in His path naught but the spirit of joy and exaltation. This is what God hath desired for all His servants. Say: O servants of God, be ye thankful! God will assuredly grant victorious aid to the true Faith through what ye are empowered to achieve.

Say: What God willeth; there is no power except through God, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting. And one thousand two hundred and sixty-five times, then likewise: What God willeth; there is no power except through God, the Most High, the Most Great. For verily through this ye shall attain to what ye love in unity. But if thy heart be averse, remember it once and burden not thyself.

And remember those who dwell in thy land—the letter Ba in the land of Ra—if thou findest a way unto him.

And verily the essence of all these verses is that the spirit of knowledge should be breathed, through what We have revealed unto thee, into every soul lest anyone have an argument before God, and that all may thereby be among the thankful.

Thou shalt point to that place and speak the truth and aid the servants of God who have detached themselves unto God and are certain of God and His verses.

Beware of those who expect not the meeting with God, and commit thy affairs unto God, both thy return and thy dwelling place, for He is the best Protector and Helper. Say: God sufficeth as Guardian over all things.
