BB00519: Answer to Siyyid Ahmad Aqa-Zadih

He is the Most Exalted, the Most High

O thou of tender years, of tender body, recently weaned from milk!

Praise be to God Who created whatsoever is in the heavens and on earth by His command. Then those who have believed in God and His signs shall be gathered unto God.

O my God! How can I call upon Thee when all paths of access to the knowledge of Thy Being are barred? And how can I refrain from calling upon Thee when the manifestations of Thy creative power are at every moment descending? Glory be to Thee and exalted art Thou! I testify that Thy Essence hath cut off all created things from attaining the station of knowing Thee, and that Thy timeless Being hath separated all existence from the capacity to describe Thee. Verily, I am unable to describe any of Thy attributes, for Thou hast never been known by aught else but Thyself, nor described save by Thine own Self.

I beseech Thee therefore, O my God, by the right of Muhammad and His family, to graciously bestow upon me the knowledge of Thee, to grant me constancy in serving Thee, to let me recline upon the carpet of Thy favor, and to stand before the trustees of Thy Revelation, the vessels of Thy knowledge, the guardians of Thy mystery, and the interpreters of Thy signs—those servants whom Thou hast chosen for the station of Thy authority, singled out for the manifestation of Thy sovereignty, and whose obedience Thou hast linked to obedience unto Thee, and whose love to love of Thee. Thus hast Thou described them in Thy perspicuous verses, saying—and Thy word is the truth:

“Honored servants who speak not until He hath spoken, and who do His bidding.”

Glory be to thy Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe. And peace be upon the Messengers. And praise be to God, the Lord of all worlds.
