BB00489: Letter to the great uncle
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Praise be to God Who has afflicted me with tribulation. I praise Him for what has befallen me of hardship and adversity through the wrongful actions of the people of polytheism and rebellion. To God do I pour out my grief and sorrow, and those who have acted unjustly shall soon know what fate awaits them.
That which you wrote has reached me and I have become aware of what has shone forth from your love. May God reward you for what you have done in God’s religion and what you seek in God’s path. By Him Who holds my soul in His hand, those who drink from the cup of love are secure, while those who turn away from the command of divine authority are the lost.
How can I fully describe what has befallen me in that land? The ink would run dry and the tablet would not suffice. But an indication of it will make known to you some of what has transpired through divine decree. When I migrated from that land to present my case to him whom God has made sovereign of the earth, I reached this land and alighted here with permission of His Excellency the trusted one of the exalted government (may God perpetuate his prosperity and reward him from His favors as he deserves). In truth, he has not failed to show attention and mercy. One night in his presence with certain men occurred what God willed and desired. The matter will be completed, God willing, with the divines when they appear on the Day of Arafat or the Day of Sacrifice for the mutual execration, for that was my judgment between them. Soon will God establish the truth through His words and make manifest the deeds of all people.
We shall soon journey to the court near to the King of Grace. When you hear of this, present yourself there and make known what you have witnessed of the actions of the ignorant ones. To God do we belong and unto our Lord shall we return. Peace be upon you and upon Ahmad and upon him whom you answered with the letter and upon those who have labored in God’s Cause and those who follow after them. Today what I promised you will be fulfilled near noon minus five minutes.
