BB00470: Epistle to Haji Mirza Aqasi 2
A portion of the Tablet revealed at Sīyah-Dahan, in honor of Muhammad Shah
In the Name of Him Who is Exalted and Most High
Praise be to God Who bestows His favor upon whomsoever He willeth through His wisdom—glorified and exalted be He above what they describe.
God knows and is sufficient witness to My condition, that I have committed no wrong deserving of such a judgment. Though I acknowledge, in accordance with the words of the Commander of the Faithful, that “existence itself is a sin with which no sin can be compared,” in any case, if I am a believer—and I am, as witnessed by God and His chosen ones—then according to the purport of the sacred tradition “Whosoever shows enmity unto one of My friends hath declared war against Me,” such treatment is not permissible. And if I am an infidel—and by the sacred Being of God and the exalted station of the Family of the House of Infallibility, I am not, though there are many infidels living under the protection of the King in every land—still such judgment is not permissible.
In any case, such a decree is not befitting toward one who is of the seed of the Prophet, while God’s decree is manifest: “Say: I ask of you no recompense for this except the love of those who are near of kin.” And the decree concerning “those who judge not by what God hath revealed” is also evident before the Most Holy Presence. Even if some matter concerning Me were truly doubtful, it would be incumbent upon you to guide aright, though by God’s grace and bounty I am not conscious of even an atom’s weight of sin in Myself.
When they observe the signs that have appeared through Divine Will, all suspicion will be removed. And if despite this I deserve death, I swear by the Sacred Being of God that I yearn for death with greater longing than a babe for its mother’s breast. In the name of God and by God, I await the decree and am content with God’s judgment. This decree is sweeter to Me than honey.
Beyond this brief account of My state in the station of poverty and glory which I have disclosed—though even at this stage it is manifest that the very pebbles of the earth are charged with knowing My name, even if they know not My form—it beseems you not. Do consider also in your grace and mercy the hearts of the kindred. If the purpose is to close the door upon Myself, I hope by God’s might that once confined to a goodly place, it shall not be opened.
