BB00462: Prayer for Haji Mirza Jani Kashani
In the Name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate
O my God! How can I call upon Thee after my disobedience to Thy Self, my heedlessness of the places of Thy wisdom, and my turning away from the seats of communion with Thee? And how can I not call upon Thee after my knowledge of the bounties of Thy mercy, the manifestations of Thy grandeur, and the signs of Thy eternal sovereignty which draw all unto the station of Thy proof? It is as though I behold Thy grace unto the disobedient as being like unto Thy grace unto the obedient, for disobedience harmeth Thee not, nor doth faith profit Thee, and verily Thou art independent of all things. Thou hast commanded all through Thy laws that people might be distinguished thereby. Glorified art Thou, glorified art Thou! Through remembrance of Thee my soul hopeth for Thy presence, and through Thy attraction my soul hath relied upon Thy grace and generosity. Unto Thee be the most exalted praise above all things and the greatest glorification after all things.
If I acknowledge Thy oneness before Thee, my soul reproveth me because of Thy Being and the impossibility of attaining the presence of Thy countenance, for Thy Being is an essential, primordial, and pure Reality which by its very essence separateth all created things from the station of knowledge and preventeth all contingent things from the mention of certitude. And if I utter praise of Thee, the limitations of my soul prevent me, for verily praise of Thee befitteth not the holy court of Thy Lord. Glorified and exalted art Thou! I find no path for myself, nor can any proof ascend unto Thee, O Thou Glorious One!
I beseech Thee, O God, by Thy hidden Name and Thy treasured Attribute, that Thou send blessings upon Muhammad and his family, [through] Thy fragrances and manifestation, then Thy revelations and greetings. Verily Thou art the Powerful, the Mighty.
O my God! Thy decree is truth for every soul, Thy ordainment is justice for all things, and Thy grace hath encompassed all things. I beseech Thee, O God, by the vastness of Thy mercy, the all-encompassing nature of Thy knowledge, the ultimate bounty and utmost good-pleasure, that Thou send blessings upon the Blessed Leaf from the Primal Tree, which is neither of the East nor of the West, through what Thou possesseth of wondrous fragrances and ancient favors, and that Thou forgive me and my parents and whomsoever Thou lovest in this hour upon that earth, through Thy grace and bounty and the sovereignty of Thy Self-Subsistence. Verily Thou art God, the Powerful, the All-Bountiful. And I seek Thy forgiveness at all times through what Thou lovest and art pleased with.
Praise be to God, the Lord of the worlds.
