BB00407: Risala fi’l-Rububiyyah
In the Name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate
Another answer has been revealed according to a second request [cf. BB00363]. Having heard the passages that were written, I respond in Persian, that you may find solace in turning to your purpose.
Know that you seek one who is capable of understanding all mysteries and knowledgeable of all sciences in detail. God and His chosen ones bear witness that I neither was nor am such a one. If, in discussing Divine Unity, mention was made of a station encompassing knowledge of all sciences in detail, this was due to the greatness of the station of Divine Unity, before which all things are submissive and non-existent. God suffices as witness. For the tranquility of hearts, a prayer and this page have been written. A reply is requested.
Question and Answer: God has not charged any soul beyond its capacity and strength. Look to the matter of religion: whatever agrees with the Book and the Practice of God, accept it with certainty and act upon it. When any new matter arises, present it to just and unworldly persons—if they confirm it, then accept it; if not, then do not. As for worldly affairs, in whatever age you live, dwell in the land with contentment and fear none but God, for the duration of this world compared to the life of the hereafter is less than a moment and shall pass. God has guaranteed the sustenance of His servants, and each shall receive what is destined. The saying “The best increase is the loss of that which distracts from God” is established.
Question: Regarding smoking in certain gatherings, performing prayers, attending lessons, and associating with some deniers as a form of prudent dissimulation (taqiyyih).
Answer: It is related from Abu Abdullah, peace be upon him:
“Prudent dissimulation was established to preserve [one’s own] life, but when the life-blood [of others] is at stake, there is no prudent dissimulation.”
Question: Regarding the cause of tribulations in the manifestation of matters.
Answer: “God effaces what He wills and confirms what He wills, and with Him is the Mother of the Book.”
Question: A group from Qazvin submits that if we deny this true Cause in our province, we may perhaps be able to remain with a thousand mockeries and taunts, otherwise they deem our death obligatory. How should we conduct ourselves?
Answer: Those who fear not strive in God’s path and fear not the blame of any blamer. This is God’s grace which He bestows on whom He wills, for He is possessed of great bounty. “Prudent dissimulation is my religion and the religion of my fathers. Whoever has no prudent dissimulation has no religion.”
Question: Mention of a tested practice for fulfilling worldly and spiritual needs, especially for memory, children, payment of debts, removal of thoughts, and a good end.
Answer: Recite fifty-nine times:
“I entrust my affair to God; verily God is aware of His servants.”
