In the Name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate
God—there is no god but Him. The Book has indeed been sent down in truth for a Day wherein there is no doubt. So worship Him and await His victory, for verily the days of the Remembrance with your Lord are ordained. God has indeed sent down a Book according to the Word of your Lord concerning the people who were made subject above the water, with decisive verses concerning the hidden interpretation of the Verse of the Throne, such as was not revealed to anyone before, that people may know the truth of the sea within the surging sea, and the sweet water upon the bitter water, and that all may know that their Lord, the Most Merciful—there is no god but Him—has power over all things. This is of the tidings of the unseen We counsel you with, that souls may become certain in the remembrance of your Lord’s name through some of the letters apart from the truth.
This is what God promised in His Book, and verily your Lord is witness over all things. Could any other than Him send down letters like these letters? Glory be to Him above what the wrongdoers fabricate concerning His verses. Soon will God judge between all with justice, then they shall find no distress within themselves concerning what is decreed among them by your Lord’s leave, and they shall submit to your Lord’s command with full submission. Is there doubt concerning the Remembrance that it is sent down with verses by your Lord’s leave? What is wrong with these people that they read not a letter from your Lord’s Book and perceive not God’s verses in word? They are like cattle, and verily your Lord is knowing of the wrongdoers.
I have written since the day of embarkation to the land of Kha’ verses and pages that all may be certain that the ink of your Lord’s words of remembrance would be exhausted by the sea, and what your Lord has decreed with ink, and I find no suspension for your Lord’s outpouring from any thing. The sea-path was ordained for the ship to that island each time for a day, and that was naught with God except through the wrongdoing of its people. When We recited unto them God’s verses and they perceived them not, We sent down upon them a moderate wind that they might remember God’s verses. Praise be to God—most of them understand not. Deaf, dumb, blind—they comprehend not. Glory be to God your Lord above these people who seem to read a letter of knowledge as means—soon shall they see their deeds as scattered dust before themselves in the land of resurrection.
O beloved one! Behold the Word of your Lord, for the beholders have a goodly station with your Lord that is beloved. Send with such a leaf unto the Messenger that his eye may be consoled, and say: Grieve not, for God is with you and He knows what you do in the path of His love. So rejoice in God your Lord and convey to people God’s decree as you are able, for your reward with your Lord is the Garden of eternity that has been ordained. Verily your Lord’s promise shall come to pass and there is none to repel God’s command. Unto Him ascend the angels and the Spirit on a Day whose measure is as was revealed in the Qur’an, and this is your Lord’s decree that has been ordained in this Tablet.
So proceed and be steadfast in what you are commanded, and stand firm as you were ordered, and write a book concerning the remembrance of the Bab with decisive verses from the Qur’an and traditions narrated from the pure Imams, that people may know that by the knowledge of the Command there was no innovation regarding the Gates, but rather the Command has been His way from before and after, and you will find no change in your Lord’s way in anything. Glory be to God, Lord of the Throne, above what they describe. Convey the peace of your Lord’s remembrance to the loved ones and say: Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds.
