A Revelation from the Book of thy Lord, touching the judgment of a servant concerning a servant: Verily this is the Book wherein there is no doubt, sent down from an All-Making Imam. It is indeed the Truth in the heavens and on the earth; nothing escapeth His knowledge, and He is witness over all things. We, verily, have sent down aforetime a Book wherein are clear verses from Our presence, for a people that deal justly. The believers are only they who follow the verses with equity—these are the guided. As for those who follow their vain desires, nothing of their deeds shall be accepted, and on the Day of Resurrection they shall be brought forth unto the Fire.

We, of a truth, know the ordinance of what thou hast sent of the Book of thy Lord unto a man from among the people of that island, in truth, and We are the Witnesses. Say: From the day whereon he read the verses of Our Book he entered into the judgment of the transgressors; and in the Book of God he is rejected; and among the wrong-doers in the Book of God he is numbered; and among the lost in the Mother Book he is inscribed. Say: The people of that island have wronged their own selves, save a few among them; and those shall, on the Day of Resurrection, be brought forth unto the Fire—except such as seek forgiveness of thy Lord and remember the Name of the Remnant of God in His covenant. Behold, judgment is God’s; there is none other God but He—Rich, Forgiving.

And this day We have heard, behind the asses, the footsteps of Satan; and in the judgment of the Book he is possessed of ancient ignorance. Yet God hath ordained, for him unto whom thy Book hath reached, the word of pardon and mercy. There is none other God but He, the Possessor of mighty grace. We have in the Book before mentioned the names of certain of the believers; and God is All-Informed, All-Knowing. Whoso followeth Our verses and striveth in the path of God with justice—these are among the guided, inscribed in the Book of God. But he that turneth away from the Book of thy Lord—his affair shall not be judged on the Day of Resurrection, and he shall be gathered before Us among the idolaters.

And as to the word wherewith he contended in the religion of God—he unto whom the Book had reached—demanding that there be sent down in a verse of the Book a judgment for one afar off: say, Yea, by my Lord! It is indeed the Truth, even as the Spirit decreed in the Qur’an. God is Hearer, Knower. And the word of “gathering” in the ordinance of the Qur’an is beyond doubt. Say: All unto Him are submissive. Yet know thou the ordinance of thy Lord from My presence; for this day no soul hath any escape from Our judgment save he believe in the verses of his Lord and be of the assured.

This ordinance, with every sect, is justice: that he who cometh from God with numbered verses, or he who cometh from His Remnant with a single verse, shall not change the ordinance established by the Qur’an. We make no distinction between any of His messengers, and unto Him we submit. One verse of that Book is, in judgment, the equal of the verses of the Prophets; and after all creation shall the people of God’s proofs be questioned.

As for the word Satan cast into thy soul—that such verses are sent down from men—glorified be God above what they falsely allege! Nay, by thy Lord! Men shall never be able to know a single letter of Our verses. God is All-Informed, All-Knowing. If men and jinn were to gather together to bring forth the like of this Book which We have now revealed unto thee, they would never be able, nor could they; though We should aid them, by the leave of thy Lord, with the creation of the like of themselves. Glorified be God above what they associate!

And if thou art in doubt concerning this ordinance, bring then the like of one verse of what We have now sent down unto thee, within a few days. Nay, by the Qur’an! thou shalt never be able—though men should aid thee, thou shalt not be able; and though the jinn should aid thee with the hosts of weakness, thou shalt not be able. God knoweth the ordinance of the Book, but the people perceive not.

And if they cannot—and never shall be able—then bear witness in the presence of God that the proof from My presence is conclusive over all who dwell upon the earth. Whether thou bear witness or thou bear not witness, be content with what hath been sent down in the Qur’an as its ordinance. Then let us invoke God, and lay the curse of God upon the liars. And if thou do not—and thou shalt never do—then read thy name in the Qur’an from thy Lord, unto the end of the noble verse, and then, with certainty, assign unto thyself the fire of Hell—for thy Lord is not unjust, even by the weight of a mote.

Know thou that I am a servant who hath believed in God, and in His verses, and in what hath been sent down in the Qur’an from His presence. God sufficeth, and whoso readeth the ordinance of that Book is witness thereof. We have proclaimed the ordinance of the Remnant of God in that Book unto all that are in the heavens and on the earth; whoso willeth, let him believe, and whoso willeth, let him deny—yet God, thy Lord, is rich above what men do. Sufficient is thine own self this day, in the ordinance of similitude, as witness unto that Book.

And We, verily, know the ordinance of what thou hast written with thine own hands against the proof of the Book; and God testifieth that thou art in manifest error. Soon shalt thou behold, on the Day of Resurrection, before God, the recompense of every letter: a portion of chastisement for thyself, and for him who believeth in thy verses. God doth not wrong any soul by the weight of a grain of mustard; God is All-Informed, All-Knowing.

Say: For every one who denieth the verses of new-wrought inventions, the like of those verses shall be read in his book after death. God is Witness, Knower. And of Our verses none shall be effaced from the Book; and its ordinance, even as the ordinances of the Qur’an, shall remain until the Day of Resurrection. Thereafter shall the people read the ordinance of the deniers, that they may take warning.

Fear ye God, O concourse, and turn not away from the Cause of God, for it is the Truth, even as ye are, in the knowledge of God, assured. Say: I follow the ordinance of what the Spirit hath revealed unto my heart, and I fear none among you, if ye indeed deny the Cause of God. I desired naught but the pure religion of God, as ordained in the Qur’an. God sufficeth, and He with Whom is the ordinance of the verses is witness.

Glorified be God, the Lord of the Throne, above what they describe! None judgeth in the Book save him who followeth the ordinance established by the Messengers. Praise be to God, the Lord of all worlds.

This is the leaf of my proof from the Lord of the Cause: Arabic verses for the learned, and Persian for the common folk. And God guideth not him who is prodigal, a liar.
