BB00063: Kitab al-Hujja II

Part 1: “This is a Book from the Point…”

In the name of God, the Powerful, the Mighty

This is a Book from the Point of the Bayan, God’s servant and His Proof unto all the worlds, to him whose name God hath made the remembrance of His Proof’s name, and whom He hath made, from His Proof, a proof unto all the worlds.

Say: I am the first whom God, my Lord, created and made, from His presence, a resplendent light. Say: I am the first whom God, my Lord, brought into being and made, from His presence, gloriously magnificent. Say: I am the first whom God, my Lord, originated and made, from His presence, beauteously graceful. Say: I am the first whom God, my Lord, fashioned and made, from His presence, transcendently great. Say: I am the first whom God, my Lord, created and made, from His presence, radiantly luminous. Say: I am the first whom God, my Lord, caused to exist and made, from His presence, supremely powerful. Say: I am the first whom God, my Lord, preserved and made, from His presence, perfectly complete. Say: I am the first whom God, my Lord, endowed and made, from His presence, sublimely exalted. Say: I am the first whom God, my Lord, established and made, from His presence, consummately wise. Say: I am the first whom God, my Lord, appointed and made, from His presence, mightily powerful. Say: I am the first whom God manifested from His presence and made, from His presence, eminently manifest.

Say: Verily God hath created all things by His Command and made me, from His presence, His Command unto all the worlds. Say: God hath made the likeness of His Command as the likeness of the sun which God causeth to rise times beyond any one’s reckoning save His own, whereupon all are illumined by a single sun; and He causeth it to set times beyond any one’s reckoning save His own, whereupon all await it. Say: I am the first whom God created from a beginning that hath no beginning, and made me the Sun of His Manifestation unto all the worlds. Say: I am the first whom God, my Lord, createth and maketh, from His presence, unto an end that hath no end, the Sun of His Manifestation unto all the worlds.

All that God hath created from a beginning that hath no beginning, He created by His Command; thus were all created through me aforetime and through me shall all hereafter be created. God hath manifested me from a beginning that hath no beginning, as He willeth, by His Command in every Manifestation with names from His presence—verily He is the Best of Revealers. Were I to declare that God hath manifested me according to the number of all things and made me, from His presence, a proof unto all the worlds, and hath sent down unto me the Book from my tongue through that which He hath inspired me from His presence, and ordained of paths what He willeth, I would assuredly be speaking truth. Yet do I seek God’s forgiveness for this, as this is the limit of what my heart can comprehend of the numbers of all things, and God’s power in His Command is greater than this, and we are all His worshippers. For the numbers of all things created in the Book are created by His Command—how then can the Command be known by that which is created by it? Glorified and exalted be God above what they define!

And God hath not manifested me in any Manifestation from a beginning that hath no beginning except that I said: O all things! Worship God, my Lord and your Lord, for I am the first of worshippers. Follow the verses of God, for they are God’s proof unto all who are in the heavens and the earth and what lieth between them, and unto the worlds. And follow ye the commandments of God. Verily, through this ye shall, in your earthly life, enter the paradise of God’s good-pleasure, and after your death ye shall enter the paradise of the highest heaven. Say: Therein, whatsoever your souls desire shall God create through His command “Be!” and it is, even as He hath created all things through His command. Will ye not then see?

Fear ye in your lives aught save God’s good-pleasure, for this is the fire of your existence, did ye but know. Verily this shall lead you unto that from which ye shall, after your death, be excluded.

From the beginning that hath no beginning until now, all that God hath manifested through Me hath been to summon every soul unto God, my Lord, the Lord of all the worlds. I have revealed the Books from God as He hath permitted Me, and have ordained ways as He hath willed. He, verily, is the Most Wise of the wise.

God hath given Me no will save His Will—say: O all things, be ye thankful! God hath given Me no desire save His Desire—say: O all things, be ye thankful! God hath given Me no power save His Power—say: O all things, be ye thankful! God hath given Me no decree save His Decree—say: O all things, be ye thankful! God hath given Me no permission save His Permission—say: O all things, be ye thankful! God hath given Me no term save His Term—say: O all things, be ye thankful! God hath given Me no book save His Book—say: O all things, be ye thankful!

Say: Should all who are in the heavens and on earth and whatsoever lieth between them endeavor to produce the like of this Book, they would never be able, nor would they have the power, even were they the most learned ones on earth. This is God’s proof unto all the worlds, this is God’s testimony unto all who dwell in the heavens and on earth and whatsoever lieth between them, and then unto all the worlds. These are God’s evidences unto all who dwell in the heavens and on earth and whatsoever lieth between them, and then unto all the worlds. These are God’s arguments unto all who dwell in the heavens and on earth and whatsoever lieth between them, and then unto all who are in the worlds. These are God’s demonstrations unto all who dwell in the heavens and on earth and whatsoever lieth between them, and then unto all who are in the worlds.

This hath been My way from the beginning that hath no beginning until now. In every Dispensation I have counseled: O all things! Be ye fearful in the next Manifestation. For He Who hath ordained for you the first Manifestation is He Whom God shall make manifest, and He shall ordain for you in times of sorrow. Ye believed in the first One; how then do ye veil yourselves from the next?

Before the First Point, God did manifest Me in such wise that none besides Him can comprehend, and I was, in every Dispensation, among the foremost of them that worship God, the Lord of the heavens and the Lord of the earth, of the seen and the unseen, the Lord of all the worlds. From the Manifestation of the First Point until now, God hath manifested Me in every Dispensation by whatever name hath been manifested, and all do follow Me. I was Noah in the day of Noah, and Abraham in the day of Abraham, and Moses in the day of Moses, and Jesus in the day of Jesus, and Muhammad in the day of Muhammad, and the Primal Point in the day of the Primal Point, Him Whom God shall make manifest in His day, and Him Whom God shall make manifest after Him in His day, and Him Who shall be manifested after Him Whom God shall make manifest in His day, unto the end that hath no end, even as the beginning that had no beginning. In every Manifestation I have been the Proof of God unto all the worlds. This is the meaning of the true saying which ye call to mind, that when God shall manifest His Proof, they shall say:

“Whosoever desireth to behold the countenance of the Primal Beauty and all the Prophets and Messengers, let him look upon My countenance, for verily I am the first of them that bow down in worship,”

inasmuch as all that whereby they were made Messengers was but one Command in the Book of God, and at that time that Command was: Say: O all things! All the good that hath appeared and all the good that shall appear is from Me, if ye desire to comprehend. Say: There is naught beyond God and beyond the Sun of Truth if ye would but remember. In every Manifestation, to the extent of a house, that Manifestation createth for the day when God shall manifest Me in the later Manifestation, whereupon none recognize Me save the discerning servants of God who are pious in their religion.

Verily, I was David in the day of his Manifestation, and God revealed unto Me the Psalms and ordained what He willed of religion. Then did God manifest Me before David in Moses, yet they recognized Me not, else they would not have been patient in their religion, and until this moment they cry out in the fire of their death and life, yet are not helped.

Then did I counsel those who were given the Torah to await Jesus, son of Mary, the Spirit of God and His Word, for verily ye shall be created anew on the day of His manifestation. Say: They said: “O Moses! We believe in what covenant Thou hast taken from us and we shall follow.” Yet when God manifested Me in Jesus, they fulfilled not their word and differed concerning Jesus, the Proof of their Lord, saying: “Thou art other than what Moses, the Messenger of God, promised us,” and they believed not in Thy Book nor in what God revealed unto Thee, the Gospel…for the believers. And so until this moment they remain steadfast in their religion, crying out in the fire of their life and death, yet they perceive not.

Then did Jesus counsel those who were given the Gospel to fear God and await the appearance of Muhammad, the Messenger of God, for verily He shall come unto you from God, there is no doubt in it, so aid Him as ye are able. But when Muhammad, the Messenger of God, came unto them, none believed among them save seventy of their learned ones, as they were among the believers in what God revealed unto Muhammad, until God made manifest the religion of His Messenger and aided Him as He willed from His presence, whereupon all could see.

Then Muhammad, the Messenger of God, said:

“Await ye the appearance of the Mahdi from among my descendants, Who shall come unto you after the earth hath been filled with your oppression and tyranny, for verily ye shall be created anew through Him.”

And God made the Proof of Muhammad to be the Furqan and preserved it until now, whereby all seek guidance. Yet when God made Me manifest with that Proof, none recognized Me save a few of the believers after… believers, for their belief in Muhammad the Messenger of God was their belief in Me, and their belief in the Furqan was their belief in the Bayan, yet they remain veiled from the mystery of the Cause. I have closed in the religion of Islam the gates of their veils upon them.

Perchance on the day of the appearance of Him Whom they await, they will not be veiled, for God hath revealed in the Qur’an that none but God can send down verses. And ye, after one thousand two hundred and seventy years, have witnessed this with your own eyes. If ye believe in this, whenever ye hear a verse or behold it, ye cannot imagine in your hearts that this is from other than God, in that which ye believe. How then do ye take up your pens to produce the like thereof, or doubt this? We have established Our proof against you, that ye might reflect thereon, and then, in the next Resurrection, be not veiled from the proof of your Lord.

Part 2: “Those who were given the Qur’an have spent…”

Those who were given the Qur’an have spent their lives in that which profiteth them not of their wisdom and principles, for had it profited them, they would have believed in Me. By thy life! Those who believe not in Me have not understood a single letter of the Book of God, even as those who believed not in Jesus understood not a single letter of the Torah, though they imagine they do well. Have mercy upon them and deliver them on the Day of Resurrection from the fire of their lives, for they die not, and they enter into the fire of their death wherein they shall not be helped.

Similarly do I counsel those who have been given the Bayan not to veil themselves from Him Whom God shall make manifest in the next Resurrection, for if ye become veiled, your religion will not profit you a grain’s weight, even as the religion of those who profited not from their faith at the appearance of Muhammad, the Apostle of God. O people of the Bayan! Fear ye God! Again, fear ye God! And be not veiled from the signs of God, for verily by them shall ye be saved. When ye hear a verse, it is forbidden unto you to say “nay,” that ye may not be veiled from the Cause of God. God hath caused the religion of Islam to endure until My manifestation, and all await daily My appearance, supplicating night and day, yet they remain veiled from that which God hath ordained for them.

God hath caused the religion of Islam to endure in such wise that seven kings therein have professed the faith of Muhammad in this day. How many since the days of Muhammad until now have come and returned unto their Lord, and until this day do they progress in their stations according to their deeds. God hath manifested Me in the year one thousand two hundred and seventy after the appearance of Muhammad, the Apostle of God, with proofs wherewith God had previously manifested Muhammad, the Apostle of God, that those who have been given the Qur’an might not be able to differ. And whomsoever God wished among the chosen ones hath believed, and whomsoever God wished to veil hath been veiled without right or mighty Book.

Behold how the true divines’ proof that they judge by God’s leave is the word of Ja’far ibn Muhammad and then My word in the first Occultation, yet they reflect not. Say: Verily Ja’far ibn Muhammad was created by the command of Muhammad, the Apostle of God, and had Muhammad not declared him the sixth Imam, how would ye accept what he said? And if God had not sent down verses to Muhammad, the Apostle of God, how would ye recognize him?

Thus are they veiled by three veils. Had they been truthful before My manifestation, they would have judged the people, not those who appointed them. Behold how they recognized not the proof of their Lord and judged Him by that which no one would be content to judge another without right or illuminating Book. Say: Before My manifestation, they followed other than truth and were false. This shall suffice them ere My Appearance; for subsequent to My Appearance their affair will be so manifest as to require no proof from any soul among the peoples of the world.

Their likeness is as the likeness of the divines who lived in the days of Muhammad, the Apostle of God. God hath, in the Qur’an, made them as idols inasmuch as the people followed them after the appearance of Muhammad, the Apostle of God, as ye yourselves now witness.

God had revealed aforetime:

“They have taken their doctors of law and their monks for lords besides God”

inasmuch as they followed their divines instead of Muhammad, the Apostle of God, yet they reflect not, neither do they remember.

They have, by their words in Mine absence, followed vain imaginings and have made the affairs of their religion according to what they say, such as their consuming that which God hath not permitted them from among carrion. Were they to reflect upon that which they utter, they would surely know that they have departed from their religion, for God hath revealed in the Qur’an:

“This day have I perfected your religion for you and completed My favor unto you.”

This is what God, the Lord of all worlds, hath testified, yet they testify to that which God hath not testified and imagine themselves to be God-fearing.

Nay, nay! Thy path is the path of guidance and Our decree concerning the ordinances is Our proof against them, yet they are drowned in their desires and they reflect not, neither do they remember.

Say: After My manifestation their state in the sight of God is more remote than that of the ancients, for when the ancients heard the verses of Muhammad, the Apostle of God, they outwardly professed their belief, whereas these have not even done as much as that, though they imagine themselves to be learned and presume to judge in My name.

And he who opposed Moses, despite his might, when Moses came unto him with clear tokens, ceased not until he had produced a mighty sorcery. Yet these who say “We are learned” have produced no sign, and they utter falsehoods without right while imagining themselves and those who follow them to be truthful. Say: Your impotence is more evident than the sun; bring ye the like of this Book, O divines of Islam, if ye be truthful.

They have made the matter ambiguous unto their rulers until they returned unto their king and made the matter ambiguous unto him without right and have caused every soul to enter into the fire by reason of their being veiled, while imagining themselves to be servants of God who shall be saved.

If there be made for thee a way unto their king, send unto him these two Books and say: These divines have made the matter ambiguous unto thee, yet God hath made manifest the truth in thy days. Therefore know thou the worth of the days of God and let thy mention endure unto the next Resurrection among all peoples.

These verses are Our proof against them. Command thou that the proofs of thy Cause be presented unto them all together. If they bring unto thee the like of this Book, then follow not the truth, but if they be powerless to bring the like thereof, how canst thou deprive thyself of attaining the presence of Him Whom God hath made His Own Presence, when all were created for this purpose and all shall be questioned concerning it?

For God had revealed aforetime in the Qur’an, which ye all recite night and day:

“God is He Who raised up the heavens without pillars as ye can see, then mounted the Throne, and compelled the sun and the moon to serve you; each travelleth unto an appointed time; He ordereth the course of all things; He showeth His signs distinctly, that ye may be certain of the meeting with your Lord.”

There is no doubt that God cannot be seen, nor can sight comprehend Him, for He createth vision in whomsoever He willeth among His servants. There is no God but Him, the One, the All-Seeing.

God intended by this naught save the meeting with His Proof, even as He hath revealed in the Qur’an: “Whoso obeyeth the Apostle, obeyeth God.”

How is it that ye prevent this bounty from entering your houses? By thy life! Were the kings who are in Islam to become aware of the matter, they would all unite to aid Me. But grace belongs to him whom God hath made manifest in His kingdom, for verily he is able to subdue all the worlds through the name of his Lord’s Proof.

And at that time, through the name of Muhammad, how he possessed what he possessed—and that is the name of his Lord’s Manifestation on the Day of Resurrection.

All desire to aid the Proof of their Lord and uplift the true Faith through what they are enabled to do.

Say: All shall die, whether rightfully or wrongfully, and their remembrance shall not endure in this world. Therefore, cause thy remembrance to endure by aiding the Cause of God on the Day of Resurrection, for this indeed is the great bounty.

And were the veil to be lifted, none would find aught more beloved than Me in their own selves. But those who know Me understand this, while others do not know.

And thou art commanded to present this Book to all who are on earth, if they be not powerless before God’s might.

For We are patient, but if they are powerless, how canst thou be patient in God’s Cause after God hath made the remembrance of His Own all-subduing Name the foundation of every religion?

And relief would come if from the time of Muhammad until now in Islam all would realize how they supplicate night and day yet are unable to alter God’s Cause or modify a decree.

Say: Were ye to be slain, God would surely ease your paths in your religion and manifest that wherewith ye would be content.

Say: Relief is naught but what God revealeth through a soul and bestoweth upon it of proof which all are powerless before.

This then is what ye supplicate for night and day, and for its manifestation do ye beseech.

Therefore ask concerning all that is difficult for you regarding the appearance of your Lord’s Proof, for ye shall answer yourselves through these verses if ye but reflect.

Say: All are compelled by their faith toward the Truth.

Verily I am independent of these creatures through God my Lord, yet I desire to guide all these unto God’s path and deliver them from the veils of their mortal lives and from the fire wherewith they are promised after their death.

Say: Those who return unto God their Lord, then seek forgiveness and follow what God hath revealed unto His Proof—God may well forgive them what their hands have wrought, for He is the Best of forgivers.

Say: If it be difficult for your divines to grasp the meaning of the utterance of an Imam or a Prophet, or a verse from the Book of God—He Who hath issued from His presence shall, in three nights and days, bring forth the equivalent of the Qur’an. How is it, then, that ye deny Him? Bring, then, tablets and pens, and sit for three nights and days without intermission; thereafter shall ye witness a Book equal in measure to the Qur’an.

Glory be to Thee, O my God! Bear Thou witness for me that by these two Books I have perfected Thy proof upon all humankind. Do Thou, then, guide each soul unto Thy Faith, for Thou art the Most Powerful of the powerful; and deliver each one from whatsoever veileth him from Thy good-pleasure, for Thou art the Most Excellent of the excellent. Deliver all from whatsoever veils them from Thy good-pleasure, for Thou art the Most Excellent of the excellent. Glory be unto Thee, O God! Thou art the Guide of the heavens and earth and whatsoever lieth between them. Thou givest guidance unto whom Thou willest and withdrawest guidance from whom Thou willest. Thou exaltest whom Thou willest and abaseth whom Thou willest. Thou strengthenest whom Thou willest and humblest whom Thou willest. Thou aidest whom Thou willest and forsaketh whom Thou willest. Thou enrichest whom Thou willest and impoverisheth whom Thou willest. Within Thy grasp is the kingdom of all things. Thou createst what Thou willest, how Thou willest, by what Thou willest, for what Thou willest. Verily Thou art powerful over whatsoever Thou willest.
